Offensive Player of the Week
Steve Valentino (DAY)
Valentino passed for more than 200 yards and rushed for more than 100 to lead Dayton past Robert Morris, 28-14, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
One week and one offensive player of the week award for Payton candidate Steve Valentino of Dayton.
In preseason workouts, Tino is reported to have been timed at 4.44 in the 40.... Interestingly enough, he is no longer the fastest Flyer, that honor went to a freshman recruit who is reported to have run a 4.33, (new record for UD). Still, 4.44 is not too shabby....

Armanti Edwards could have done all that stuff for breakfast...

Not picking on Tino but schools seem to exaggerate 40-yard dash times. Take off about .10-.15 for any time that most schools give out on their players. NFL teams time much differently so a 4.40 for most schools would be a 4.50-4.55 by NFL standards. Tino looked like a 4.55-4.65 type guy on film and the time you gave out would be translated to about a 4.59 by NFL standards, which is right in the middle of the range I would have guessed.

Any truth to the rumors he took Bob Morris's girlfriend home after the game, tapped that in an off campus apartment, she conceived and bore 3 male triplets the very same night, and they're signing LOI's to play for Dayton next year?

Do you need to sign a LOI if no scholarship is involved? Or do you just show up and announce your intention to play?

Depends on whether or not you run a shabby 40 time.

Armanti Edwards' girl had Quadruplets and they can all run faster than Valenino's 3.

Week Two:
Well, the Flyers lost to Duquesne but Tino did his part.
22/32 for 248 yards and 3 TD's. No interceptions.
47 yards rushing. One rushing TD.
295 yards of offense and 4 TD's, (three passing and one rushing), in week two.
So far, our Payton Award candidate is living up to the honor of the nomination! Here is to hoping that Tino stays healthy and continues to put up more impressive numbers this season!
