Opening Day Could Be Wet and Windy

From the mid-Atlantic northward, opening day for college football could be messy...
Hurricane Earl most likely will not make landfall, but the latest tropical force winds chart from the National Weather Service shows fields could be soaked, and passing difficult...
Could see higher running stats this weekend than passing from lots of games...
Thoughts???

With our O-line avg about 320, a rainy day game isn't bad news for us. We should and we have to be able to run the ball this year. The less we throw this year, the better. QB Havens tried to force things last year with some riskee' passes, and he got toasted with int's. Hopefully he can manage the game better this year. I think he will.

I was thinking about that as I typed the opening post...the OL does look like one of our strong points...and running is the way to go in the possible weather...
Regarding Havens...

You have a much better chance against W&M with the wind and rain.

Hope your coach decides to stay with the run. For some reason UMass stopped running in the chapionship game and gave the game away.

I've been to Houston a few times and with that temperature and the area's humidity, it is quite possible that your players will be just as wet as the players getting the rain.

Can't argue with that one. I'll probably be drenched even in shorts and a tank top.
