New look at Portland State

Gone is the black on black that Glanville introduced. Also gone is the spear on top of the helmet. Portland State is returning to green and white and also putting the "happy viking" emblem back on the helmet.

Also, the Vikings AD, Torre Chisholm, is going to incorporate a red rose on the uniforms in honor of the city of Portland, the Rose City. However, this incorporation was not addressed in the article and it is unclear whether this rose will be evident for all sports or just football.

Glad to see! I didn't like the black with the spear logo thingy that Glanville brought in.

Portland State will be very hard to judge till they play an actual game, I think PSU will be able to turn things around under Burton.

I, for one, liked the spear. Anything is better than the Power Ranger viking. It looks like they did a Google search for "viking clip art" and that's what popped up.

The new uniforms do look nice though :thumb: .

I'm a fan of your colors and logo, but I'm not a fan of so many uni combos. I guess I'm just used to UD where there is one home uni and one away uni. A third alternate worn on special occassions (Notre Dame wearing green) is cool, but...

I tend to agree. To me, a "uniform" is just that, "one" form. I'd rather do away with the black totally and match the top and bottom together (like my mother told me during my grade school years).

My vote would be #61 for home and #10 for away. 28 and 5 aren't bad, but I don't like either end.

From someone who lives in Montana and whose team is playing two teams with nicer uniforms this year, I say "Whatever".

Coming from a team that is not stepping up to this level of fashion it does ring hollow. Maybe the Vikings will look slightly better but it is all subjective. The flashiest team we played last year was Appalachian State, and this year, one would be hard pressed to accurately say that any other team on our schedule would have a cooler look than EWU or the Bobcats.

The Viks will talk of course, but the rest of the conference will more than likely join me in the "whatever" but this won't be proven until the Vikings play someone with a decent uniform.

It is easy to sit back and watch and say “yeah, we are cooler looking now than they are”. When you play at that level of fashion however, you realize just how nice all the teams in the Big Sky look compared to you (yes, even ISU).

 One of my favorite scenes from that movie. And you are correct, uniform critique is a little  . Guilty.

I will return the "whatever". It doesn't matter what style of fashion you wear, as long as it does not deter from the play on the field. I will keep saying "whatever" until teams are awarded points or deducted points based on flash and flair of the uniforms. I will add, though, that maroon is much more fashionable than copper, at least this far north of San Francisco (and this far west of Missoula). :thumb:

Ahh hell J, I figured you'd recognize your own post. You were posting a legitimate story that had to do with PSU and I found the opportunity ripe to use the post you made about a legitimate Griz story a week or so ago by just changing a few words to fit this information you were giving us. Those are your feelings concerning "up tempo" practices.

My feelings on the uni switch is that I really like it. I think PSU had a really great look and I'm glad they are going back to the colors. :thumb:

It's gonna look like a modern day work of art Christmas Tree when they play at EWU though.

I don't like dark numbering on dark jerseys (black on green) but otherwise its a huge improvement.

The logo blows in general and needs to be changed, but its far better than the spear was.

I did recognize it. I just tried to have some fun with it by "agreeing" with you. Then I realized I inadvertently entered into the "New Griz Colors vs Old Griz Colors" debate with my closing statement. I was hoping I was not going to be put to the task on that. :D :thumb:
