Gotta give credit for the conference love vs the individual teams
89Hen - I'll have to agree with you on your assessment
And we were ranked at the end of the season last year, where's that listing?

Pre-season polls suck anyway!

Who the heck gave Richmond a first place vote? They lose something like 15 starters (or something like that) while nova returns 15 starters, and nova was better than Richmond last year. Voting privileges should be put on warning for that kind of voting.

Same with the Griz. New coach. New system. something like 17 new starters.

As of right now I'm from the "show me" state... :coffee:

Nice preseason poll with last yr info that isn't relevant. Or is it and is it what the rankings are based on?

At least with the Griz they are still playing in the Big Sky (no offense intended) - Richmond's playing in the same conference with the defending champion and a very easy case to make for being the pre-season #1 team. There's enough of a direction connection there to pre-empt Richmond from being the #1 pick. Heck, Richmond's going to be lucky to be better than 5th in the old CAA South this year, let alone getting a #1 in the nation vote. Montana's at least going to be there come playoff time - they should be doing cartwheels in Richmond if they are there too.

ISU was picked last in the big sky. they have only had 15 wins in the last 6 years. 2 wins the last 2 yrs n lost to a DII in 2009.

Where is Sac and Northern Colorado cuz ISU won't beat anyone in the Big Sky. Or are they saying the Big Sky from top to bottom even if a team goes 0-8 is still top 50 worthy?

Davidson, picked 7th in the PFL coaches' poll, gets more votes than Georgia Southern, or anyone else in PFL?

Easy... I mean are you really suggesting we get into a bottom dweller argument?

That has to be an error right?

TSN is notorious for screwing up the polling system. I hope that is an error of some kind.

I can't understand how people want to quibble about the gravel either. Outside the top 30 how does it even fucking matter?

I did get a kick out of the NDSU being below Indian State one though.

Defense will be better than ever. New speed on offense at RB and WR. Griz will take a 14th straight BSC title and go deep into the playoffs again. New starters 17???? Are you following the team or just yuking it up on chat boards?

Offense returning starters

Sambrano
Selle
Reynolds
Verlanic
Opperud
McNight (FG kicker)

Defense returning starters

Campbell
Shaw
Johnson
Hobbs
Stoll
Wren (punter)

Returners
Sambrano
Nguyen

I've pointed out before the reasons the Griz reload are two pronged. 1. We get outstanding recruits that want to win. 2. The Coaches platoon heavily at most positions. 2nd stringers get about 40% of the reps over the season.

big sky coaches poll:

Team First-place Votes Total Points
1. Montana 8 64
2. Eastern Washington 51
3. Montana State 48
4. Weber State 44
5. Northern Arizona 1 41
6. Sacramento State 30
7. Northern Colorado 19
8. Portland State 18
9. Idaho State 10

talking about the bottom teams is pointless, agreed. BUT, is the point of my questions that the big sky is superior to basically every conference for 2010? ?

Perhaps some of their voters intended to vote for Illinois State or something, and inadvertantly voted for Indiana State or Idaho State.

not sure if that makes them more or less moronic than if they actually intended to vote for those teams.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Sycamores should be improved this season, but I really don't see how anyone can honestly consider them one of the top 25 teams in the subdivision at this point.

What would be an improvement for the Sycamores? 2 wins? That'd be more wins than they've had in the last 5 years.

I would hope they get at least two wins, considering they are playing both Quincy and St. Josephs.
But other than that, even if they did only win those two, I would consider it improvement if they avoided having so many lopsided losses.

I watched an ISU/WIU game last year and I was pretty stunned at how slow and basic they looked. Unless that's different this year I don't know how the lopsided losses will come to an end.

Besides the two conferences that have won like 8 straight championships

Wait, I just perpetuated the team = conference thing the CAA fans do. Nooooooooooo
