BLACK-OUT MONTANA

Apparently the upcoming Oct 30th game between Weber State and Montana at Stewart Stadium will actually be more interesting with this little fact I just learned.

While visiting Weberhoops.com to check out the pictures of our new Jumbotron (LOOKS GREAT BY THE WAY) the article mentions that Weber fans will get to enjoy the new tron during Weber's purple/white game 3 days before the BLACK OUT MONTANA HOME FOOTBALL GAME, apparently, Weber is going to try what Utah did and encourage fans to wear black to the game to "Blackout Montana", Weber will of course be wearing thier all black uniforms (not sure whether or not thier helmets will be black for this game, I doubt it).

This is kinda cool, Im glad Weber is trying to do something to get the fans to the game, and hype it up a bit. Only problem is its a 1pm kickoff game, would be better if it was a night game.

I'm glad to see that our conference foes are giving us so much attention (rightfully so, I might add) this year. Congrats to you guys and EWU for recognizing us in the fashion we are accustomed to.

Alright the rest of you fucks are on the clock...what are you planning on doing for us this year?

Did Jerry Glanville head down to Ogden? We spent three years in the midst of a "blackout" and it didn't bode well for us at all.

How is Weber going to "blackout Montana" with 7 fans in the stadium. The marketing would probably be more effective if you just made it "Maroon Out Montana" at least then there would be fans in the stands. :twocents:

Besides, this is weak sauce. EWU put down hideous fucking turf and wants to play US in its first game. Brilliant marketing, taking a loss on brand new turf! Now that's marketing!

How bout a game in the snow against the greatest player to ever suit up for the Black and Gold that ends on a last second play down on the goalline, oh wait...

I can handle the "Blackout Montana" -- what gets me is EWU and PSU gauging our fans by making them join the Eastern Athletic Association to get tickets and PSU is making people buy a`two game pack for $60.....pathetic

Single game tickets will be on sale Sept 1. Buy your ticket then. Not our fault most Griz fans are too stupid to realize this. :ohno:

I'll tell you what is stupid. EWU trying to make money off of Montana by jacking the ticket prices, only to have one person man the concession stands at halftime. For cripes sake, please let EWU know they could sell a lot more food if they actually had some staffing. Last time I was there, I couldn't even get anything to eat before halftime ended. I just went back to my seat and drank my lunch in booze.

Rumor has it you drink your lunch on a regular basis, so I don't know what all the fuss is about. Image

That's one thing I've noticed as well at any away venue. They have no fucking idea how to sling beer or food and make some fucking money. EWU is terrible in the concession area and SeaGriz is right...you just as well forget offering any money for food if you need it cuz you ain't gonna get close enough.

SeaG, if you go this year hit the GSA because they'll probably have food. If they don't then we'll meet up and me and a buddy will have refreshments of all sorts unless one of these slack jawed EWU fucks tries to return the hospitality I showed them last year.

I'll be sure to whip up a batch of pink panty droppers or whatever you were drinking last year. :thumb: If I owned anything better than a George Foreman for grilling, I'd help ya out on that end as well.

I love the George Foreman. That'll do just fine. Your gonna need an inverter but you got a month to pick that up. :thumb:

BTW, we were drinking beer and you did that pink panty thing all on your own. Nobody asked you to sit down your little raspberry beer you brought and do that.

while weber does have one of the lowest attendance averages in the big sky for football im hoping to see some improvement. im sure the whole conference wouldn't mind playing in front of a big crowd at weber.

last time montana came to ogden there was 3,700 people in attendance according to the box score but it was the worst weather game ive been to in my life. it was like standing in a shower with the cold water on for 2 hrs. the NAU snow storm last yr was much more pleasant (and dry).

with good weather im hoping for 15,000 for the game if we haven't lost a conf game. though 10-12k would be more realistic.

i wasnt sure what i thought when i saw "black-out" on the schedule but if they are going to try and do somethings to hype up the game then i'm all for it.

is this game gonna be on altitude?

Weber is a good place to see a game. its a pretty good stadium, great views, no tailgating rules, cheap tickets for road fans, $8-10 (you don't have to buy Weber season tkts).

If a lot of UM fans came when weber wasn't good at all, how many will come now that we have good teams? Is it really true UM fills 50% of EWU's stadium?

I'm confused. The purple/white game is 3 days before the Montana game?? You're having the puple/white game on Oct. 27?

It's a nice idea in theory, but doesn't always work out all that well. The local minor league hockey team (Rapid City Rush) tried to promote white-outs at home games during the playoffs last year, but they depended on the fans to acquire white shirts and it didn't work out all that well. It's much more effective (but obviously more costly) if you give out shirts for everyone to wear.
