The NCAA APR database is up and running and you can click on the link below to check out how your school is performing. Here is a summary of the 2008-09 [last year reported] Big South APRs:
Presbyterian - 978
Gardner-Webb - 962
Liberty - 953
Stony Brook - 953
Coastal Carolina - 915
VMI - 906
Charleston Southern - 875
According to the NCAA, an APR less than 925 is grounds for contemporaneous penalties and less than 900 is grounds for historical penalties.

SoCon scores:
ASU 985, GSU 981 (up from 907), Wofford 977, Elon 971, Furman 955, The Citadel 949, WCU 929, UTC 867.
Most interesting observation. Hatcher comes in and straightens out GSU's academic mess then gets fired for not winning championships.

What did I say the other day about Coastal's academic situation being what kept them out of the SoCon?

WTF with Charleston Southern sub 900???
What are the "historical penalties" they could be up for? CSU is a small school, 5000 tops, and it's not one of those places where athletes get a free ride in school, so don't know how their academics are suffering. Well, that may be the exact cause.

Solid improvement by G-W considering some previous numbers were sluggish.

1994 - There was a time not more than 2 years ago when some of our area opposition at the FCS Level was using GWU's APR #'s against us. Now, while we can still improve the APR's even more, it's no longer a valid persuasion not that it really was then. Now, if we can see some comparable W-L improvements on the field that will be vindication for all of those who have a stake on both the academic and athletic side of the institution. On the field, the Runnin Bulldogs need to learn how to close both games and the season out. They were either tied or leading at halftime I believe against all conference opponents last season yet finished only 3-3. From what I have observed finishing strong comes down to depth which we haven't had a lot of and getting worn down. I see the depth improving so the staff needs to develop that depth with game time experience in these early season OOC games now that the Big South has the AQ. With a overall 6-5 record including 2 losses to BCS schools just finding a way to close it out would have and can alllow the guys to get to 8-3 or even 9-2.
