UO's Masoli just signed with Mississippi; so much for all the jibberjabber about him signing with a Big Sky team. He was convicted of burglery and then of marijuana possesion. Maybe Mississippi cops are more lenient.

Masoli doesn't have to sit out, even at Ole Miss. He completed his bachelor's at Oregon this summer, which means he's free to use his last year of eligibility at another FBS school without sitting out a year as long as he enrolls in a grad program not offered by Oregon.

oh i htought he had to sit out because of an ncaa suspension. so he really would have had no reason to even consider a drop down

It was an Oregon suspension handed down by Chip Kelly...not the NCAA.

No, of course Masoli never considered the Big Sky or any other FCS teams. Only a couple guys here suggested it, and I doubt they were serious. This is a guy with an agent, already! A punk with dreams of glory. My guess is he won't change. He pulled of those robbery and marijuana gigs as a senior - he's grown up and set in his ways.

That's a rhetorical question? UO doesn't allow ex-felons on its team. Mississippi does; it needs a quarterback. No doubt UM is saying "It was just a little mistake; he deserves another chance." Obviously, he deserves another chance because they need a quarterback. There's big money involved when UM plays.

NCAA rules state you are eligible to play right away if you have graduated from your university with a degree and you go to a school and enroll in a graduate program that is not offered at the university you graduated from. Same reason why Paulus was able to go from Duke to Syracuse without sitting out a year. A loophole that probably will never be closed. It is better for all involved for these athletes to get a degree from their school.

Gotta give props to Masoli for getting his degree.

:ohno: Not again. Listen guy, stop letting the media tell YOU how YOU feel. Be a man!

Like I said 50 times already, YOU WANT ALL AMERICAN/ROSE BOWL players? This is what you get. You gotta take the good with the bad.
