PSU athletics have signed an agreement with Alpha Communications to broadcast Vikings football and basketball games on Freedom 970am in Portland.

The last two stations that carried Viking athletics had a signal that barely made it over the West Hills. Freedom 970 has a much stronger signal that should carry the play by play through much of the Willamette Valley and SW Washington. Also, Alpha Communications controls many other Portland radio stations, including 95.5 The Game, home to both the Ducks and Blazers, and advertising on the other Alpha radio stations is included in the package. I know this pales in comparison to other radio packages in the Big Sky, but any improvement on our part to increase the visibility of PSU athletics and the Big Sky conference in Portland should be a good thing.
Tom Hewitt, who has been the voice of Viking athletics since we moved to the Big Sky, will continue on play by play.
