Gamecock Central is reporting that QB Zac Brindise is leaving Carolina and transferring to WCU. Don't know how significant this will be as Zac never played a down for the Gamecocks but wanted to pass it along.
BLYTHEWOOD -- South Carolina backup quarterback Zac Brindise is transferring, hoping to play his remaining two years of eligibility at a school where he has a strong chance to get on the field.
Coach Steve Spurrier confirmed the departure at his media golf outing on Wednesday. Spurrier has never been hesitant to let his players go if they feel they have a chance to play at another school and Brindise was the latest to ask for permission to leave.
"Yeah, he's transferring to Western Carolina," Spurrier said.
Brindise was entering his fourth year at USC but had never taken a varsity snap. The younger brother of Noah Brindise, who quarterbacked under Spurrier from 1995-97 at Florida, Brindise was rewarded with a scholarship last year but decided to play out his eligibility elsewhere.

I am confused about the timing of this (late July)......and I am curious as why this didn't happen in late May-early June, when a decent %% of folks make decisions regarding transferring.

Another Gamecock leaving the USC fold is Nick Allison, OL who hails from the Asheville area. Heard he had a bad back or was just homesick, not sure which is accurate but this info was over the WCU Fan Forum.

Gamecock Central reported that he lost his passion for the game. I interpret this to mean he didn't stand a chance of playing this year.

Well they were 2-9 last season, so that'd be a nice thing to have happen to them.

It pains me to say it, but the cats are improving. Not enought that any of my high school buds who went there will attend a game, but they're getting better.

Not calling you out on that, cause it's certainly a possibility, but if Western's past losing record is why they don't attend football games, I certainly hope they have become Mountaineer fans, you guys deserve all the fair weather fans you can get.
We don't need them, tell 'em to turn in their diploma.

They would, except they can get a better deal for it down at the recycling center.

If the last two games of last season are any indication of what Western will be this year then they could surprise. It's kind of sad to think about, but their win over EKU was probably the most impressive OOC win for the SoCon last year.

I realize they were playoff wins, but App States wins over SC State and on the road at Richmond were the conferences best OOC wins last year.
WCU certainly played us much tougher last year and they appear to keep getting better, but one has to wonder when it is going to result in wins rather than moral victorys. This could be the year.

I can name 10 grads off the top of my head who live less than an hour from Cullowhee who haven't attended a game since they graduated in 1989-1991. They aren't mountaineer fans either.

If you can name them
then do it, they need to be called out. Or is it they are just not interested in football?

They love football, but couldn't find it near Dullowhee. And I don't name names.
