If the Broncos are still undefeated at this point in the season, this matchup could be their last big game before a trip to Glendale, AZ for the BCS title game.
Now, why in the world would this guy think that just
because BSU is undefeated at this point they would have a chance to go to the title game? That happens EVERY year and they don't play for the title.
Give me a break. BSU has been undefeated 3x in regular season play:
05'- didn't beat anyone ranked. Best OOC win was unranked Oregon State.
08'- beat then #17 Oregon, lost to then #11 TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl
09'- beat then #16 Oregon, beat then #4 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl
Your not going to get to play in the NC with beating only 1 ranked team outside the top 15.
VA Tech will be in the top 10 in the pre season polls (which granted I think are baloney). Boise will be in the top 5. To get a shot Boise needs to:
-win what is essentially a road game at Fed Ex against VT.
-go undefeated the rest of the way.
-have VT go at least 10-2.
-Hope there's not 2 undefeated teams from the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, or Pac 10.
If Boise can beat VT they have good chance of going undefeated the rest of the way.
As far as VT dropping only once ACC game, thats 50/50 for the Chokies.
September 6 vs. Boise State*
September 11 James Madison
September 18 East Carolina
September 25 at Boston College
October 2 at North Carolina State
October 9 Central Michigan
October 16 Wake Forest
October 23 Duke
November 4 Georgia Tech
November 13 at North Carolina
November 20 at Miami (FL)
November 27 Virginia
If VT lose to Boise, they'll likely be 7-1 going into a brutal 3 game stretch against what will be 3 pre season ranked teams, GT, @ UNC, and @ Miami.
As far as 2 other teams from those BCS conferences going undefeated, with 12 games and the league championship games in the SEC and Big 12, better than 50/50 there will only be one or none undefeated. In the last 12 years, 7 of the 12 BCS NC games at least one team has had a loss. 3 times both teams had a loss, and once, the 07' season, LSU had 2 losses.
