Pretty crazy

Pretty long layoff, even for a preseason All-American

Mixed reaction over there.

Hopefully he has learned some good lessons in his time off

I just read this on ESPN. I figured there would be 20 comments by now. That being said, good for him. That's a long lay off though.

Following the situation has been pretty heartbreaking. He was intensely vilified from the start and as more and more things came out the more positive he looked. The Kaimin had an actual decent article (a true shocker) about him trying to get his life back on track last year...he really came off as a good and genuine kid in it.

I wish him the best and hope he can continue his pre-charge play...but after a three year layoff I'm not holding my breath.

Agreed, I think the decision is the right one. I will be amazed if he can play at the level he used to though. I wish him all the luck in the world and hope he takes advantage of a great gift.

Just read the article from the Kaiman. What an incredible story. Good luck to the guy. Hope he has fun trying to contain Jones after he slips past the LBs.

He participated in 2007 spring practice. Let's see that's the 2007 season, 2008, and 2009. It adds up to a 3 year layoff. You need to brush up on your math skills Silenoz. BYU players routinely take off time like this.

Good luck Jimmy. Nice to have an All American CB back in the fold. He was aquitted for self defense. The NCAA agrees and that's that. It's a second chance that's deserved and Jimmy will be a model citizen on and off the field.

This kid was very good but that's a tall task for anyone. I kept on the kid and what he was going through. A tough situation for sure but I hope he does come back and get a little chance at some glory and that it catapults him further in the correct direction.

Anybody that hasn't read that story from a few months ago should give it a shot, you won't be sorry you did. :thumb:

I got a business degree so I could rely on Excel :kisswink:

Actually, spring 2007 you say? Guess that will mean a 3 1/2 year layoff. Rounding up, it looks like.. yep, 4 years

He missed three seasons, and three spring camps, that's three any way you look at it.

Last played in 2006 ...

So you miss 2007 (1), 2008 (2), 2009 (3), and return for 2010 (4). Four seasons since he last took a live snap

Silly thing to argue in any case

It is. But you can't count 2010 unless he misses the season. :D

Wilson was a POS before he murdered the guy.

Do some people deserve second chances? Sometimes.

This isnt one of those times. His behavior before the murder was enough to warrant no second chance.

At least the downtown Missoula crowd will feel at home with JW pulling guns on them again and they didnt even pee on his aunt!

Good move UM!

That was never proven just hearsay. He was never arrested. You're a POS for saying that.

Can't say I'm not completely stoked. If he's as good as he was in 2006, our secondary has potentially gone from "Meh" to "Pretty damn good" just like that.

I also think he's a changed man. You don't go through something like that, no matter what your past was like, without reevaluating your stance on life in general. Good for him! :thumb:

I bet a pussy like yourself woulda just stood there and soiled your tighty-whiteys and likely gotten shot.

According to the article, Smoot had control of the stock/trigger and Wilson controlled the barrel. From the sounds of it, that dumbfuck woman-beater probably pulled the trigger and ended his own life. :coffee:

First of all I would have called the cops thats what they get paid for. Remember she called him and he had to drive over. Stupid decision.

I also wouldnt help my aunt is she was stupid enough to get peed on and not leave. Shes on her own for being a dumb bitch.

I will take care of myself and I would bet I wouldnt get shot again.

Self-defense is not murder. It is self-defense, and it is permitted and perfectly legal. I am surprised that there are people, and apparently Montanans, who don't believe in self-defense. Montana seems like a self-defense and gun rights state.

Wilson had had no prior charges or arrests, at least in Missoula, prior to the matter in CA, according to the Missoulian. His behavior and downtown Missoula behavior must have been fine, or fine enough, if he'd never been arrested or charged with anything.

The gun stuff was a persistent unsubstantiated rumor, and had no merit.

Wilson's aunt had been beaten unconscious with a hammer. In some areas of the country, the first instinct of a black person or minority, is not necessarily to call the police. Going to a relative's defense seems perfectly normal and understandable to me, and defending oneself when somebody comes after you with a gun certainly makes perfect sense and is perfectly legal.

The problem is not Wilson. The problem is some Montana fans thinking he is a minority and from out of state. Had a Montana raised kid gone through the same with the same outcome, we would see much more support in his favor. FWIW, good luck Jimmy. :thumb:

Yep, Montana fans are automatically biased against minorities. Hence all the hate for Lex, Craig Chambers, the list goes on and on. :jack:

Point taken. I still don't think his argument makes any sense.
