Out of UCLA comes 6'2" Antwon Moutra. A sub 4.5 Junior with two years to play. Prepstar All American, 4 star rivals and scout. Number 27 WR by rivals. Rated 5.8 by rivals.
Super. He had 2 more stars than he had receptions in his two years at UCLA.

Hey, you get buried on the depth chart and then when you get in the game the team either isn't throwing the ball or not throwing your way. Happens. Eric Allen had the same situation at Okie State and came to the Griz and excelled. Only an idiot would think a UCLA player that was getting a chance to play would transfer to FCS.
This kid will tear up the Big Sky. If you bothered to watch him on the video he has great speed, runs very precise routes, and has good hands. What's not to like.

Last 4 star we got was Craig Chambers, and IMO he was a man amongst boys out there until his injury. Hopefully Moutra excells

Doesn't matter to me. Every decent high school recruit has a great highlight video. And I question anybody, regardless of the school, if the main selling point is the guy has lots of stars on Rivals. Truth be told, now that he's leaving UCLA for Montana, if he had to be rated again he'd be losing at least one star, if not two. That's how reliable the "star" system is. He could be great - won't know until he hits the field though.

We'll see. Out of a half dozen WR transfers we've had over the years only one did not do well and become a starter. Now we have 6'2" Moutra, 4.45, 5'11" Sambrano, 4.39, 5'11" Roberts, 4.5, 6'2" Atkins, 4.5, 6'3" Buckles, 4.6, 6'0" Gratton, 4.5 in our receiving corps. These guys are all competent WR's and make the WR position at Montana very deep and athletic. Add to that a senior QB Selle coming off a great Junior season ( 3043 yds, 63%, 28 TD's, 6 ints. ) and the passing game looks solid.

It is a good pick-up for the Griz. I am not going to get into a pissing contest about how good he could be as another athletic receiver adds some needed depth as, outside of Sambrano and maybe Gratton the Griz dont have a lot of experience coming back

I agree with all of that. I hope he's a good one but the stars rating thing is the biggest bunch of bullshit out there. I was also thinking as watching that I won't put any stock into highlights any more unless I see a lowlights and see what he does wrong. He looked to run some good routes, and some sloppy routes but still had good speed and good hands and did a nice job of reaching out for the ball when it was necessary. Just can't tell much from highlight films.
Looks like he could be a good one but will have to wait and see before getting too worked up him.

So you are saying that Flacco, being rated 3 Stars when he moved to UD would have dropped to one star because he was going to the FCS? There was a lot of hype for Flacco coming to Newark and he lived up to the hype. No way Joe moves to the Tub if he was starting FBS QB...

Atkins was a 2 year starter at JC, Gratton split time at WR and had 28 catches, 2 TD's, Sambrano had 31 catches splitting time and 5 TD's. Roberts was regarded as the 2nd best receiver in fall camp last season before he went down with injury and was redshirted, some compared him to Mariani. There is some experience and alot of talent there. We will be just fine. In fact we'll challenge NAU for the Big Sky passing crown I'll predict.

With coach Pflu stating that he will open things up I think we have a shot

Unless he's signed a contract with UM, there's not much to go on, here. Unless someone can confirm he's put ink to paper, let's not get our hopes up. Yeah, I'd like to see him, but so far, there's no confirmation of his signing with the Griz.

Really? A highlight tape is going show the good things he does? Holy crap!

Anytime you can get a kid with some size who shows ability to catch the ball, it's not a bad pickup, especially if you have a need; however, watching the video, I would be hesitant to say he has "great speed." If anything, he looks pretty sluggish to me and that's probably why he had trouble getting on the field for a UCLA team that struggled moving the ball...most of those highlights are from practice where more than likely he's going up against a walk-on or somebody buried on the depth chart...when I focus on the "get-off" and the ability to separate, it's pretty ordinary. He does show ability to run precision routes and obviously has some size and ability to go get the ball, and I don't doubt that he'll be productive in the Montana offense...I just don't see 4 stars worth.
A better headline would read, "Griz land UCLA transfer."

I appreciate his enthusiasm in giving us another 2K beyond full capacity. The stat about selling more season tickets than UCLA has to be wrong.

Not this year bud. I'm predicting the Bears pull off the upset against the Friz.

Wanna bet? Loser donates to this site
L 10-38 L 20-41 (14 points in garbage time ) L 7-52 L 21-53 L 16-27 (w/Vincent Jackson) L 14-31
UNC
2006 1-10
2007 1-11
2008 1-10
2009 3-8
UM
2006 12-2
2007 11-1
2008 14-2
2009 14-1
I think this is what they call "a sure thing" in gambling. I mean, I guess there is the 1% chance we repeat last season's ISU debacle (a game we still won), and UNC is supposedly improving year-by-year (ala Sac State...). I'll believe it when I see it though.

I'm not a betting man, but I'm pulling an Andre Ware (He predicted Wyoming will beat Texas on College Football Live). Nothing wrong with a bold prediction.
