Any thoughts from the UNI crowd?

Syracuse, NY -- Eric Sanders, who spent the past two years as a graduate assistant with the Syracuse University football team, will return to his alma mater, Northern Iowa, as an assistant offensive coach.
Sanders, 25, was quarterback at Northern Iowa from 2007-07. He was 35-9 as a starter and led the Panthers to an 11-0 record his senior season. Northern Iowa plays in the Missouri Valley Conference, which is in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division I-AA.

Sanders was one of three assistants hired this week by Northern Iowa football coach Mark Farley.

It's always nice when a well-liked player comes home as a coach. That's one reason I'm such a big fan of Sac assistant coach Jon Osterhout. I'm sure this UNI QB will do well.

UNI has done fairly well with coaches that were former players. Mark Farley and Terry Allen, as far as head coaches. And there have been a fair share of former Panthers as assistant coaches.
