Talented receiver provides depth and skill to ASU’s incredibly stocked corps of wideouts ... enters fall camp listed as the backup at the M receiver position ... could also prove to be a contributor on special teams.

2007: Saw action in seven contests ... caught four passes for 61 yards and added three rushes for 11 yards ... made second catch of his career, a six-yarder, in season opener at Michigan ... also caught passes versus Lenoir-Rhyne (11 yds.), Gardner-Webb (16 yds.) and a career-long 28-yarder against Western Carolina ... had a pair of carries for three yards versus LRC and an eight-yard run versus WCU.

2006: Appeared in first three games of the season as a true freshman ... had a breakout performance versus Mars Hill, catching his first-career pass for 11 yards and running twice for 10 more yards ... unfortunately, the impressive performance came at a price, as a hand injury forced him to sit out the rest of the season ... received a medical redshirt for the season.

High School: Was a four-sport all-conference performer at Kernersville Glenn H.S. ... amassed over 4,600 combined yards as a runner, receiver, passer and kick returner during his prep career ... named the 2005 Piedmont Triad 3A Player of the Year ... coached by his uncle, Dickie Cline ... also earned all-conference accolades in baseball, basketball and track.

Personal: Full name is Matthew Scott Cline ... born Oct. 28, 1987 (turns 21 during the season) ... son of Wanda and Frankie Cline ... majoring in business with a minor in health promotion.

High School: Track star, who won state in both the 100 (10.64) and 400-meter (47.91) events, while finishing second in the 200 as a senior...Set school records in the 300 hurdles...Scored 28 points individually at the 2006 Illinois State track meet...qualified for Junior Nationals...also played football.

Worth Knowing: Also a member of the Saluki track and field team and qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional in the 400 in 2006.
