Guy was a receiver under Pflu during his years as an assistant to Don Read. Not sure of what years though...He's an account exec for a business partner now, and heard about me through a mutual acquaintance (his boss

)....I'll pick his brain regarding Pflu and report back this weekend.
In his email inviting me to play, THIS was his P.S.:
OH, the new head football coach was my receiver coach when I played....offensive genius!!
So, I guess that give you a bit of insight into what he thinks of the new coaching staff.

Huh, sounds like the 3, 6, 3 rule IS still in effect, after all.
But seriously, good to hear what we suspected, confirmed: Pflu was a great hire.

I've already seen Pflu coach a lot of games in WaGriz and if it's anything like it was before then you should expect to see about 10 pts. for every 100yds. of offense. I expect we'll see a whole lot more 400-450 yds. of offense type games.
I like letting the rest of the newer fans like SE 174 that have no idea of what this guy did offensively when he was here before think that there is gonna be a drop off.
"New system" is one of the keywords that is bandied about by some. The fact is this "new system" was put in place in 1986 and it was the genesis of all success the Griz have enjoyed since that time.

Saw Pflu in Safeway today.. he looked very lost wandering around.. not sure what he was up to..
Anyways, played softball against former Griz TE (and current Miami Dolphin prospect) Dan Beaudin last night.. yeah, that dude shouldn't be playing in our novice co-rec softball league. Dude hit an inside the park homer in his first at bat, then jacked a softball further than I'd ever seen one hit before.. foul. Then he squared up on a pitch and hit it further than he did the first one. That ball got out of the yard in a hurry.. boy's got some power. Our SS damn near killed him with a rocket to home plate that barely missed his head.

I'd like to see what Nate Overbay could do. His uncle is Lyle Overbay, who plays for Toronto.

You realize that Lyle came up through the Missoula Osprey right? We're fairly familiar with the talents of the family.

At the risk of hijacking this thread, I've got to throw my story of playing against an ex-NFL prospect in rec-league softball. I was the catcher for our team and we were playing against Mitch Donahue's team. For a little background, Donahue was a stud player for Billings West High School back in the mid-80's and went on to play four years for Wyoming who was a good team back then. He was drafted into the NFL but did not last. Anyway, in the game he hit the ball hard but low and it rolled to the fence. By the time my team got the ball back to the top of the infield, Donahue had just rounded third base and was heading towards home (where I was standing). I got set to catch the ball, looked up and realized who he was. I then dropped my arms and yelled "Don't throw it! Don't throw it!" which got everyone on both teams laughing.

I played in a novice church basketball league one year where all my team mates had zero high school experience and I played for Power, MT in HS (38 kids in the high school). We played a team that had a couple junior college players and Dan Marjerle's brother on the team. I think they dunked the ball 30 times on us.

Well, as long as everyone else is hijacking this thread, I might as well jump in. I went to high school in Chester. The old Chester Coyotes, not the new Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hi-Line Hawks (say that ten times fast

). I've played a few football games in Power. I remember dressing in a classroom one time because the locker room was too damn small

.

JFC I'm embarrassed FOR you. Even SuperHornet knows not to tell this kind of story.

I have no cool stories. But my dad did play some pick-up games against Pearl Jam in Missoula back in the early '90s

I've had a couple beers in Red's with Jeff when my brother was working on his house here. I also been at a house party here in Missoula with Alice In Chains and gave them some pain medication at The Rhino on another occasion.

So we can blame you for starting Layne Staley's descent into self-destruction?

You could but since he had already been in rehab a couple of times I think it still lays at his feet.

Yeah it's evolved into a "brushes with celebrities" thread.
Now if it was Zamfir's flute that you had in your ass then you got a story.
