I am more unsure about the upcoming season than I've been in many years. :?

Did anyone here vote in it?

I got the email, but did not.

Like every year, I can rattle off about half a dozen teams that I think are ranked too high. Problem is, I have not as many teams that stand out as too low.

I would move Montana and App down and W&M up. too many questions to answer and the pre-season should not be a "where you finished last year" poll. Should be where you may be this year.

Looks pretty good even though in my mind there are some that could change a few spots but I have no reasoning for why.

BHBilk, I don't think that there has ever been a problem with posting anything from AGS over here and there doesn't appear to be a problem with cross promoting over there any longer so hopefully it is a new age of not working against each other between the boards.

I voted.

While I consider preseason polls to be little more than beauty contests, particularly at the FCS level, I looked upon this as an opportunity to learn as much as I could about as many teams as I could heading into the 2010 season.

I'm glad I did it. I learned a lot.

I do love the discussions that they drive. I think it would be appropriate to run one of these as a contest to see who can most closely match the final standings. Then you could just combine all the results and call it a collective guess.

I did, barely remembered in time

My poll didn't reflect the 09 final results too much. And I guess I'm the only one who thinks MSU will break out this year

I'm a little surprised at UR being #8 - seems a bit high with a new coach and I thought they graduated a lot of folks last season.

I agree with some other posters that's it's largely a popularity contest at this point, but I guess you need a starting point.

I think the new QB is giving them a lot of "pop" right now.

Yeah, UR has a whopping 7 of 22 starters back according to the CAA preview.

Yeah, a starting point would be the middle of Oct after everyone has played 1/2 their games. Preseason polls are fing retarded. Totally meaningless.

I didn't vote - even when I was an AGS voter, I boycotted the preseason poll - they are misleading, and end up influencing regular season polls much more than they should.

But, great for discussion...

Same with me...did not vote because it's pre-season...worthless, other than for discussion...but as jon said, I think very harmful because they influence in-season polls more than they should... :twocents:

I sat down and started to try to figure out my poll. I could do the top 10 and feel ok about it. But... after that I would really be guessing so I just said fuck it and quit.

I didn't vote either but I do like the preseason poll for the conversational aspect.

I didn't vote simply because the pre-season poll is the one that should take an enormous amount of time to research (unless you are one of those lucky ones that can remember every player coming and going), and I simply wasn't willing to put the time in it.

Decent poll.

Holy Cross should not be ranked though. If anyone should be ranked in the PL, it should be Colgate.

I also think Jacksonville St. is too low.

Alright...my Bears are post-season eligible for the first time. This class is the first to be fully recruited by Conque at the division I level that is playoff eligible. Nearly 20 transfers from all levels. I watched the spring games and am worried.

1. Defense needs to be much much better.
2. Offense- Runs are phenomenal. Passing could be better.
3. Special teams are alright.

Having said that, I don't think the Bears should have received very many votes in the AGS poll. We lost 5 straight last year, but with only an average loss of 3. All winnable in my opinion, but arguments could be made the other way. I guess the Bears are right were they should be- with some respect and low ranking. I have a feeling that this could be yet another top 25 year for the Bears if the chemistry kick in. Playoffs are possible, but SFA and SELA will be standing in the way. So it might be another rebuilding year. How's that for fence-walking? I just don't know.

For the BSC teams in there:

#2 - Montana - Fair enough. Hard to argue otherwise.
#14 - EWU - Probably about right. Question marks with a new QB would prevent me from putting us much higher.
#18 Weber State - Too high. Not even sure I could justify putting them in the top 25 at this point. Too much turnover from last year plus Higgins has yet to have a truly consistent year. I think NAU has more potential to be a top 25 than Weber.
#22 MSU - MMMM, yeah, ok.....Probably about right. Nothing really spectacular really sticks out for me with MSU. That said, no glaring weaknesses, either.

Why should we believe EWU is a top 10 team?

I received several e-maills but didn't vote. I follow FCS pretty damn close but didn't feel qualified to vote at this time.
