1971 was a tragic year for the Cal State Fullerton Titans. After a game in San Diego, three coaches flew to San Luis Obispo to scout Cal Poly SLO for an upcoming game. The three coaches and pilot did not make their destination as the plane crashed. The Mercy Bowl Game (vs. Fresno State) was held to financially assist the 11 children of the three coaches.

Luckily, the game film was preserved and transferred digitally. We are fortunate to share this film with you and it has been posted to the Titan Football History page on facebook:
