2010 MVFC team by team record break down

I did a game by game version with UNI. However, to get a better picture of where everyone was during the season and what not I did a week by week version for the MVFC. It remains mostly unchanged, but there was a couple. I changed my prediction of the YSU/UNI game. I did this because I think YSU is headed the right direction with a new coach and what seems like a young team they will have a learning curve that other teams might not as the season goes on. I think I have everything matched up in terms of W's and L's correctly. If you don't like it then bitch about it. If you don't like it do your own, lets see where you come out at. If you aren't willing to do that, then STFU.

hmm, how bout them apples? Tough way for SDSU to start the year, travel 1/2 way across the country, with UD with a scrimmage already under their belts. When's the last time a MVFC team beat the CAA, YSU/JMU??

The MVC is actually 43-29 against the CAA.
UNI won games against the CAA in 2007 and 2008

You've got South Dakota State making a cross country jouney to pick up a win at Delaware BUT unable to post a victory at Southern Illinois.... the Hens have a history of demolishing Southern Illinois... this year's Hens are slated to return to a level of play lost in the last few years.

I am sticking with 7-4 with YSU right now. I think with the expected attendance increase at home and the community starting to rally behind this team, I don't see us losing more than 1 game at home this year. Road losses include Penn State and South Dakota State, but the games at ILSU and MSU are very winnable in my eyes and hard to predict as of right now. I will tell you one thing, ILSU did not look good at all last year in Youngstown losing to us 30-18. MSU looked better in my eyes, esp. defensively, but YSU did help them out some.
SIU and SDSU are definitely the top two teams in the league, with UNI-YSU-ILSU-MSU battling for the 3-4-5-6 spots.
Honestly Clenz, I do not see us getting any worse than last year's 6-5 squad with this new staff and much better talent coming in this year, especially at RB. I think we either improve or stay the same, I just do not think there is any chance we get worse.

Honestly, outside of SDSU (assuming they avoid injury issues) 2-6 is a giant crap shoot.
The reason I had you slipping a game is that from the sounds of it you are going to be extremely young. While it is easier for RB's to come in and play as freshman in terms of play books, it doesn't make it easier on the body. If your team is going to be as young as it sounds, the year won't go much better, if at all, than last years.

Is UNI really going to be that good? I know they struggled last year & from what I heard they lost more than anybody in their league? Accurate??

The only thing I'm worried about is our o-line. We have one of the best line coaches in the FCS, and if we get good play from them we have the position players to make some real noise. If we don't get line play we could easily be 7-4 or 6-5. I did this assuming we would get the line play.
People will point of the loss of Grace, who was all conference. I will point them to look at the difference in his stats the first 4 or 5 weeks of the season and what he did after that point. He beat up really bad teams, like he should have, but did nothing against the rest of the league.
We lose the D-line too, however, we are changing defenses this year to feature our linebackers. We have 5-7 linebackers that are very good.

If you call one game a "history".........last time you won (Flacco) it was 20-17 and SIU had two TDs called back for lineman downfield.
edit - I can see three two-loss teams as co-champs this year. ISU is going to beat somebody.

Don't think we get the panthers in the dome, they'll be ready and waiting for us after last year

The dome jinx is no more. Lennon and co. put and end to it with authority last year.

Delaware 48, Southern Illinois 7 (2003)
In addition, how many times have the Salukis been highly ranked and knocked off at home in the playoffs?

That's the one game "history" I was referring to. Everybody else got beat that bad too that year so I don't feel bad.
Last two years we've gone into the playoffs with QB injuries, sprained thumb on Dieker's throwing hand two years ago and broken collarbone last year. I think we played as well as could be expected last year against W&M with a freshman QB, 17-3 with less than 2:00 left. I think we lose by 7 with a healthy QB. UNH and UD were both beatable but things didn't go our way; held UNH to one TD on offense and had two called back against Flacco and UD in a three point loss. That's the way the ball bounces sometimes. I'd say we're doing pretty well for ourselves all things considered.

You could be 4-6. @ ISU and @ YSU are not gimmes for the Bison by any stretch.

You could be right, but I'd like to see it happen in the upcoming season!
The Panther fan base deserves it, IMO!!

My logic is simple. NDSU could not beat the two worst YSU teams in a decade in your first two years of the MVFC, what makes you think you are going to win this one?

NDSU could go 0-fer for all I know, but Ive been watching the BISON for a while now. We are building a new team. Lots of stellar players and improvement at the QB position make them a sleeper.
UNI is going to be in the reload/rebuild situation. I think they are rebuilding.
SIU is probably the league favorite. What I like about them is the number of young players they have showing up in the individual statistics for the league. They have a lot of up and coming young guys.
I like the coaching in the league. We have several "down" programs that are obviously building decent teams.
I also like NDSUs home schedule. SIU and SDSU at home. SDSU will not be as good as advertised. I really wasnt that impressed last year even though they rolled against the Herd.
Its a good league. People in Fargo are cautiously optimistic. Football is cyclical. NDSU has never been down for long. This upcoming season wouldnt be the first time NDSU has gone from worst to first. We were very competitive last year. More so than a lot of MVFC fans are giving credit. There is a solid foundation that is being overlooked in Fargo. Add a little maturity, a few new talented faces and few breaks and you have a contender at NDSU.
Go BISON!!!

You have a great o line, unfortunately you don't have anybody that can score; it kind of defeats the purpose when you have the ball for 40 minutes and can only manage 1 TD. Now that you have lost PP, it looks like another season of great possession times and few points to show for it. Who'd a thunk two seasons ago that the Jacks would quickly become a playoff contender and the Bison would struggle at the FCS level? Goes to show you never can tell...
BTW, I think SIU added an o lineman from NDSU, forget his name but he was getting a long look in the spring game.

Without looking it up, I'm going to say there is no way the MVC and CAA have met 72 times.
