Army freshman slotback Lonnie Liggins is transferring to Towson in the Football Championship Subdivision, which is formerly Division I-AA, a team source confirmed.
Liggins had nine carries for 43 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown run against Rutgers, in 2009. The 5-foot-7, 185-pound Liggins battled injuries and played in just six games.

Yeah - I just figured I'd post it because I ran across it.
Transferring from Army to Towson is pretty much a lateral move.

Well i dont really think its much of a lateral move. Army really improved under Rich Ellerson in their first season winning 5 games and losing several by a toucdown or less. Also against Navy they only lost by 14 so Army really is getting better and i think they will be able to get to a bowl in 2010. Also Towson can use this guy as a slot reciever as a slot back has to be fast, have good hands and be able to run the ball so i think he could have an impact on the Tigers this season.

He has 3 years left to play, and is identically sized as our freshman RB(Dameron) from last year. Morgan Green is transfering in from Maryland if he gets accepted into grad school. I think this guy is going to play slot.
What it is, is added depth. Something that has killed us in the past.

Big time. Ellerson did a fantastic job with that program which was a train wreck when he got it. Had they beaten Navy they'd have been bowl eligible. Last season's Army vs. Navy game was one of the best in years. Ellerson was certainly the right man for the job. I think Army gets to a bowl next season.
