Adam Urbano, GSU's leading rusher in 2009, decided to leave the team Monday morning, Monken said.
Urbano, projected as a slotback in the new offensive scheme, ran for 622 yards and six touchdowns last season. He was also the second-leading pass receiver with 45 catches for 315 yards.
Monken said he will grant Urbano's release from his scholarship, enabling the running back to transfer with conditions. Urbano will not be able to play for any Southern Conference schools or any of Georgia Southern's nonconference opponents.
"(Urbano) went through all the weight workouts, all the morning workouts and came in (Monday morning) to talk to me," Monken said. "Quite frankly, I was pretty surprised. It was something he told me he was thinking about. ... That's not something you walk in and do after putting in all the time in the offseason and just say, 'I'm hanging it up.' "

GSU has been a good running back farm club for NDSU. 1 for 1 so far. I wonder if Coach Bohl is interested?

If he quits, I say good riddance.

Just don't think he has the speed for the A-back position and Monken for some reason doesn't want to play him at fullback. So he might as well transfer somewhere else. There are many FCS and DII schools he could go to where he'd be the starter. Good luck to him
[EDIT] LoL...why is the word "phullbak" (with the correct spelling) censored on this board?
fullback fullback fullback

The Georgia Southern Eagles are only three days into spring practice and they've already lost another player.
Wednesday, Leander Barney was permanently dismissed from the Georgia Southern football team.
Earlier this week, Adam Urbano quit and asked for his release.
