This thread disappoints. I thought you were gonna take sole credit for UNI beating KU.

Anyways, I don't see how this win would attract top athletes to fcs football. Please explain.

Fair question. FCS will never get a significant number of top athletes, but anything that dispels the myth that FCS/Mid-Majors is weak, or can't compete, benefits us all, in all sports.

FCS football - maybe not, but UNI football - maybe. This win may help UNI, and therefore FCS, it certainly can't hurt.

86, if it helps UNI football, then it absolutely helps the MVC. Beyond that???? I'd like to think so.... ;)

Before the name changed from IAA to FCS, IA basketball coaches would use the IAA football label to discourage recruits from attending our schools saying they weren't able to compete for a real national championship against/with the IA schools. Eliminating that label helped reduce that class discrimination.

Am always impressed by our JMU posters, whom I have a tremendous amount of respect for. Unlike the BSC or MVC, not an asshole in the bunch.... :thumb:

I agree 100%. The exposure/success the Mid majors-FCS teams are having is all good, for every program. Football recruits that didnt know who UNIs or Murray ST of the world were, now will. Just like I think Ohio helped themselves on the 1a level as well.
I know a couple of young players who wanted to go to Georgetown for football ,because of the rep the Bball team . Why I cant explain, but it does happen.

Why is it in all the hype over the Warners (and to some degree, the cheapshot artists in Moraga) that we're missing the incredible story of Cornell? Last word, they were up by a dozen at halftime in the second round....

Who the fuck is missing the story of Cornell? Dude you are kinda fucking frustrating sometimes with all of your non sequitur bullshit. Cornell is up 67-63 right now but they have not yet won as UNI has and they will not have the opportunity to take out the #1 overall seed.

Correction Cornell just won and will be joining UNI in the sweet 16! Good job Cornell.

Try and pull your head out of your ass for a minute SH and follow along on what we're talking about here. :thumb:

Who's missing the incredible story of Cornell? I've been posting updates on the College Hoops page - you know - where we are supposed to be discussing NCAA hoops.

I would tell you not to fall his simpleton horseshit hen but as you can see I already shook my head a couple of minutes ago.

I guess you can only concentrate on one game or outcome in a weekend if you are SH so maybe we should be sensitive to his plight. There but for the grace of god go us.

I think he just wanted to use the "Warners" or "Moraga" reference and didn't really care if the rest of the post made any sense. SH likes to make obscure references. I guess he wants us to ask him what they mean so that he can feel smart.

Yeah, I've never once asked because it's so fucking stupid it's like a child making up his own little language and thinking it's cute.Oh PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE FASSEL'S, THE WARNER'S, AND ALL THE OTHER REALLY COOL NAMES THAT YOU'VE MADE UP FOR TEAMS THAT ALREADY HAVE NAMES THAT WE ALL USE.

Jeezus fucking Christ, give it a rest and at least try to do something funny or informative ONCE in a while.

With relevance to this thread Cornell already is more well known than the other schools mentioned ,and in no way needs any help with recruits/student athletes wanting to be part of an IVY institution. Hell they could loose every game in every sport for a whole year and they still would have plenty of newbies to choose from the following year.
I have been told this year they have had more applicants for the 2010 fall semester than they have had in the last dozen years.
Regardless,Congrats to the Big Red on todays win and this seasons BBall success.

If September 1, 2007 didn't do a lot for FCS schools and smaller DI schools I don't see how this would. But congratulations just the same. I like seeing the big dogs go down do the little dogs in basketball too.

Who said that it didn't? Both events put FCS/smaller DI schools at the top of the sports page and can only help.

Since when is the city in which a school is located an "obscure reference?"

I'll grant that the "Fassels" is an obscure reference for Weber State I made up. However, I did NOT make up every such reference I use. For instance, I stole the "Kitty"reference for Montana State lock, stock, and barrel from the Griz. LOL.
