In a related story, Montana to lose to CAA teams in the playoffs for the next 6 years.

In another related story, Montana knocks UNI out of the playoffs 6 years in a row, 3 in each stadium. It is some kind of record. Jay commits suicide in a drunken wreck into a bridge embankment.

Yeah, that's not actually related at all. It's especially weird that you would say that, seeing as how we beat JMU at their place, in the playoffs, just two years ago. Unless I'm mistaken, JMU is a CAA team?

Nice try though.

I would think that there might be a full schedule of FBS games in the near future for Montana.

Over/Under on the number of teams that move up to FBS before 2016?

Low OOC SOS + Big Sky schedule = a well-rested team and three home playoff games. Of course, this can and does bite you in the ass when you play good competition outside the friendly confines, but that's the tradeoff.

Can't fault a team for wanting to make a lot of money. More power to the Griz.

93henfan hits in on the head. Montana has a record that no one can deny, and are perennial playoff participants. Like he says the SOS (overall) means a playoff berth, and home games....then challenges in the FCS finals. I think the teams are not used to playing full on for four quarters each week (they do not have to) and this bites them in the end (no pun). I think of the games with JMU, UR & Villanova, those three teams had been far more battle tested week in and week out, and those three just wore UM out.

Um...we beat them, in their place. So I wouldn't say they wore us out.

Talking about Griz teams from the past 7 years doesn't make much sense at this point with a new coaching staff. Besides, everyone seems to forget the 3 - 4 games a year the Griz won in the 4th Qtr. or last minute or two of the 4th Qtr. They had to play all 4 qtrs a lot. It was just their style to try to pound the ball, not pound the score board so to speak. Drove Griz fans crazy if I remember right. Lots of people here used to say the Griz were never as good as there ranking because they never blew teams out!

Only been 2 1/2 months since last season ended and man what short memories we have.

I agree with some of the posters. We need to improve our SOS and buy out some of those FCS home-home games and schedule some FBS Teams. Just think of the excitement we can generate if we schedule Temple, Kent State or Navy. The FCS world would be so excited to tune into those games. Instead we are playing App State and McNeese. No body cares about those games.

If we had played a team like East Carolina last year we would have been more battle tested and would have beat Nova. Right?

Not if they keep playing a DII. If a team plays only 10 Div I games and loses one of them, they have only 9 Div I wins. Often 9 Div I wins won't get you a bid.

In other words a 10-1 with no I-A and a Div II is the same as a 9-2 with a I-A loss and no Div II. Both are 9-1 vs I-AA. Then it comes down to strength of schedule/quality wins.

In other words if for the last seed it comes down to a 10-1 with no I-A and a Div II and a 9-2 with a I-A loss and no Div II, both are 9-1 vs I-AA. Then it comes down to strength of schedule/quality wins.

He was obviously referring to the 3 NC games.
