Head Coach Jeff McInerney and the Central Connecticut State University football team announced its 2010 schedule on Thursday. The Blue Devils, coming off their third Northeast Conference title in the last six seasons, won the outright NEC crown in 2009. They finished the year with a 9-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference action. Central opens the season on the road at New Hampshire on Sept. 4 in Durham, NH.
"Once again we are extremely excited by this schedule for the upcoming season," McInerney said on Thursday. "We will take to the road to face two powers in FCS football in New Hampshire and Youngstown State. We have proven during my previous four seasons that we will play some of the best teams in the country, and I think that shows again in 2010."
Following the trip to UNH, the Blue Devils will open the home portion of their schedule on Sept. 11 against Bentley University. They take to the road again for a tough test against Youngstown State on Sept. 18. That will mark the final non-conference game of the season for the Blue Devils.

Good schedule - too bad CCSU and SBU couldn't get that game worked out for Sept. 11th.

So, another 9-2 season and a ticket to the play-in game?

Nah-----CCSU will be hurting on offense next year without Mallory in the backfield. Their offense was very dependant on him this year and luckily it was good enough to squeak by in a few games.
I'm taking either Albany or Robert Morris to win the NEC next year and play at Lehigh in one of the opening round games.
Then the NEC champion will travel to Villanova in the first round.

9-2 is a stretch, but CCSU should be a real contender in 2010.
We have a nice QB (well regarded JC transfer from CA) that is supposed to be real good with his feet and arm. He will likely split time with a more tradional pocket passer. Losing Mallory hurts a ton, but we have some solid replacements in the stable. Not to mention, Coach Mac is a run-first guy and with the O-line we have, I don't expect too much off a fall-off in the rushing game.
That being said, all the tide is rising in the NEC and I think programs like RMU and Wagner are ready to really contend with Albany, CCSU and Monmouth for the title.
I wouldn't be suprised if CCSU is picked to win by the coaches, but I honestly think Wagner has a real shot this year. Of course, Albany is a very solid of a pick to win it as well.

I was not impressed with Wagner last year at all. Doscher is a very good QB and they did get a WR transfer from Syracuse this year, but their line on both sides of the ball was very very weak last year. Our Oline got manhandled by the RMU and Bryant defense and then shortly thereafter manhandled the Wagner defense.

Solid schedule for CCSU tough early slate, so the Bentley game will be a good game to possibly work out some of the kinks.
