It's official the MEAC/SWAC challenge is set, it will feature Delaware St. vs. Southern. Hope the Hornets can get a good turnout, because Baton Rouge will be there.

Must have been a grambling fan behind that
I can't wait, just another excuse to go to Orlando.

Well it's official, the worst kept secret of the Hornets 2010 offseason is true.
In my opinion, this is an excellent way to kick off the season. And our best chance to make a good showing on national television. Having the game on a Sunday was unexpected but with NFL action not starting until the following Thursday, it will probably be one of the few games on television that day. We need to be out in force for this game.
Can I talk any of the Blue Hen posters into making the trip? Don't you guys play West Chester that Saturday?

You should tell them to not wear blue and yellow.

Maybe a few CS'ers in the area wouldn't mind a little get together. You coming down, DSUrocks?
The game has been on Sunday since it moved to Orlando. I'm thinking I might try my USF/MEAC-SWAC Challenge weekend double header.

DSU has a really good freshman class coming in, and one of the best players coming into the MEAC. Josh Alaeze From Dunbar HS in Baltimore, MD. He is the brother of former 5 star DE Melvin Alaeze. Josh Had Multiple FBS offers but he felt best with DSU, says something to me im hoping Success is around the corner.

Did the SWAC office originally want this game to happen the Saturday after Thanksgiving?

I was thinking for the 64 vs 65 game it should be the SWAC vs MEAC for the HBCU championship, but the NCAA doesn't want both the black schools playing each other in the play-in. Must be racist to have them both put in the play-in game.

This game was created to be a beginning of the season game between the two leagues. And the saturday after thanksgiving is the bayou classic. The only swac team (to play in this classic) without a thanksgiving weekend game was jackson st.

I don't think it's a racist idea, just not a smart one. Why should a solid team like Morgan State(who was a 15 seed last year) have to play into the tourney for an HBCU championship? I personally feel the play in game should be between the last two bubble teams. But if (under the current system) a meac and a swac team quailfied for the game I wouldn't have a problem.

My thoughts exactly...that's what happens when you have one "great" team in a mediocre conference. The MEAC and SWAC are both lower rated conferences but so is the NEC, and to a lesser extent the OVC as well. DSU is the 2 seed in the tourney and if we knock off Morgan in the finals I already know that we'll be in the play-in game.
But back on topic. Yeah I'll definitely be down for the game, I already have my reservations set for that weekend.

I'm working on my short trip now. I'm glad the Jags are playing close to me (finally

Nah - the Hens have West Chester on Thursday night. I'll still be tailgating in Newark regardless of the opponent. Besides, the Phillies have a Labor Day weekend series at home against the Brewers that weekend - hard to see why'd I trek to this game on the last weekend of the summer, especially in the heart of the pennant race. Enjoy though!

McNeese was suppose to play Southern and apparently this is the reason Southern dropped out of that game. Well go Jags against them Nets. (to bad its really not the NJ Nets)

good insight guys. excellent points. I think the last 2 bubble teams should play for the 12 seed over seeing the little guys fight for a 16th spot(which counts as a Tourney win).
