The Murray State athletics department released it’s 11-game 2010 football schedule, including five home games and non-conference road games at Kent State and Central Arkansas.
“Stewart Stadium is the place to be this fall,” said director of athletics Allen Ward. “I’m excited about Coach Hatcher’s inaugural season and it’s a great time for the fans to jump on board and support Racer football.”
This season marks the fourth-straight year that the Racers will open the season on a Thursday night as MSU travels to face Kent State on Sept. 2. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Dix Stadium and marks the first matchup between the two schools.
The Racers open their home schedule and Ohio Valley Conference season on Sept. 11 as Southeast Missouri comes to Stewart Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. MSU leads the all-time series 36-7-1 and are 19-2 in games played in Murray.
MSU steps back out of conference on Sept. 18 as the Racers travel to take on Central Arkansas. Kickoff time is yet to be announced. The contest marks the third meeting on the gridiron, but the first since the teams played to a 0-0 tie in 1940.
The Racers return to Stewart Stadium on Sept. 25 to play host to UT Martin on Family Weekend. The game is set for 1:30 p.m. MSU holds a 34-14-1 advantage in the series, but the Skyhawks have won the previous five meetings, including a 38-24 decision in 2009.
MSU plays its second night game of the season on Oct. 2 as the Racers head to Jacksonville State. Kick time is set for 6 p.m. at the newly renovated Paul Snow Stadium. The Gamecocks have won six-straight contests and lead the overall series 6-1.
For the first time since the 1997 season, the Racers will play a non-conference game on Homecoming. MSU plays host to Missouri State on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. The game is the back end of a home-and-home series between the two schools with the Bears winning the first game in Springfield, Mo. last season, 35-10.
