Today, _______ University was pleased to announce the signing of ___ senior high school student-athletes to its class of 2010.

When asked about the signings, Head Football Coach ______ ______ indicated that his football program received signed letters of intent from all of the players they pursued. "While maybe not the largest signing class in our program's history, our football staff believes it may be one of the best. The kids we signed are athletes- big, strong and fast. And what's more, they're all exceptional students and will be a real credit to our university. We're just so excited to get them into our program."

Has anyone ever heard a coach say, "this is the worst bunch of recruits I have ever had, they suck and in 4 years when they are seniors we probably won't win one single game"? Every coach is always happy with who they sign, at least in public they are, now behind the curtain they might be thinking that we suck.

Signing Day is a complete crapshoot. Nobody knows what they have until the kids have had a chance to perform in the classroom and on the field. The B.S. and hype is just way overboard.

Anyone who gets excited about Signing Day really needs to step away from the keyboard and get a breath of fresh air.

I think the only players a fan can be excited about are the ones that he/she has actually seen play in high school, maybe even know their academic standing (if possible), and their character somewhat. For example, some UCA players played at the local high school and I was able to see them excel on the field but knew them enough to know their families and their classroom efforts. Didn't influence them, but knew them enough to know they wanted to go to UCA or stay local to live with their parents etc. Those kids excite a fan the most. But as for the kids I might have just heard about today, ...no idea. Good points.

I would send said school a big fat check if said school's head coach EVER uttered something like that. That would rock!!! :thumb:

What's really fing retarded is there were already a couple of recruiting threads going and you have about 30 new signing day threads started today. Some retards posted their signees on one of the recruiting threads, and then started a whole new thread just to post them again. And for a couple of teams some retards even started 2 signing day threads. For one team!

Since I don't want to start a new thread and this is as good a place as any to put it -- anyone have any idea about Robert Morris' signing class? They've got jack and squat on their website about it.

I agree. But I will say that I pay attention to signing day only so I can track some of the athletes as they progress (i.e., "oh, I remember when he was recruited, he was supposed to be the bomb, now he's carrying water" or vice versa); I don't look at it as the cornerstone to the program's success.

Henfan is right...What do we actually learn from "SIGNING DAY" on the FCS level? Nothing. Which no-name, D1-A left overs your school picked up?? GTF outta here.
