Looks like we dropped the four game series with Georgetown and added Hampton for a Home-n-Home. This is an upgrade to the schedule.

I'm glad this was done to help us prepare for 2011. I think it's gonna sellout too! Should be a fun one!

Good regionl rivalry game for sure......but don't expect for Hampton to be much better than Georgetown. That program has fallen apart since coach taylor left for FAMU.

They're still alot better than Georgetown.

Good deal for ODU fans, and for Hampton where crowds have diminished lately. I understand future games with Norfolk State are in the works, as well.

As Tribe4SF said, this is a good deal for both teams. The game should be a sell-out as the Monarchs travel well.

The Tribe travels to ODU in year 2 of ODU's program? Seems like a bum deal for WM.

ODU was to play us in Wmburg 2009---they came to their senses and CCSU bought them out, hence the CCSU game in Wmsburg last year.....

ODU decided that they weren't ready for that game this year and backed out. It was their responsibility to find W&M a replacment.

CCSU was paid by ODU to play at W&M.

Of course I meant to sat ODU paid CCSU.

ODU will be playing WnM every year from here on, does it really matter were the series starts. We need ever little bit of a help we can get, till we put a cycle of recruits thru the program.

IF ODU can go 9-2 again with THAT schedule, they might be the quickest playoff team EVER.

The whole program has a playoff look to it. They have exceeded Coastal Carolina's start, and have balanced their scholarships to avoid a year-five dropoff in recruits. By 2013 I think they will be in the upper half of the CAA.

9-2 with that schedule will not be playoff worthy. ODU would have to run that schedule to get an at large as an Independent. SOS is very weak. Dropping Georgetown and picking up Hampton was an excellent move. That will be a nice Commonwealth battle in the Hampton Roads area. Interesting that ODU will be facing three Big South schools. The Monarchs should easily win vs.VMI and @Presby. They should also be favored at home vs. Gardner-Webb which is the second strongest game on that schedule IMO. William & Mary will absolutely kill ODU and that would be the only quality win.

Nice ECB. Cal Poly would absolutely DESTROY Gardner Webb, which makes victories over 2 of those three a playoff-worthy resume.

And their SOS is WAY higher than Liberty's.

Ok, I'll give you Cal Poly-SLO over GWU. However, wins over Cal Poly and GWU and the rest of the schedule except W&M is still not playoff worthy. You must be the same person who also thought Butler was playoff worthy this season

No PFL team is playoff worthy. Much like no Big South team is playoff worthy.

edit: And I GUARANTEE you, if ODU goes 10-1, losing only to W&M, they WILL be in the playoffs. GUARANTEED.

Ditto from me, a fine move by the ODU brass. Should not be a problem selling out HU's 16,000 seat facility. :thumb:

Let's break this down shall we?

Four common opponents in VMI,Gardner Webb, Savannah St. and Presbyterian ----->>>Push

ODU is playing first year Georgia St. and TWO Pioneer teams! You do realize they're playing Jacksonville and NOT Jacksonville State, right? Liberty is playing two Northeast opponents in St.Francis and Robert Morris while ODU plays one NEC in Monmouth.

In order of strength here goes the matchups.

Liberty @ Ball St.
ODU vs. William & Marty
Advantage: ODU

Liberty @ JMU
ODU vs. Cal Poly
Advantage: Liberty

Liberty vs. Stony Brook
ODU vs. Jacksonville
Advantage: Liberty

Liberty vs. Charleston Southern
ODU @ Monmouth
Advantage: Liberty

Liberty @ Coastal Carolina
ODU @ Hampton
Advantage: Liberty

Liberty @ Robert Morris
ODU @ Campbell
Advantage: Liberty

Liberty vs. St.Francis (PA)
ODU vs. Georgia State
Advantage: ODU

I'll give you first year Georgia State over St.Francis and William & Mary over Ball State, but look at the rest of the matchups. There is no question when SOS numbers come out the beginning of next season you'll see Liberty has a MUCH higher SOS than ODU. I'll take my three Big South co horts any day over two Pioneer and horrible MEAC school. Everywhere you look no matter what spin you put on it, you can't tell me ODU's SOS is better than Liberty's.

2009 Butler 10-1 = No Playoffs
2010 ODU 10-1 = No Playoffs

2009 Butler = 2010 ODU :shit:

2009 Butler - 10-1 against the likes of Albion (D-II), Franklin (D-II), Hanover (D-II), Moorhead State, USD, Valpo, Campbell, Davidson, Dayton, Jacksonville, Drake, and CCSU.

No CAA teams. No Great West teams. No MEAC teams.

You can't SERIOUSLY be comparing Butlers 2009 schedule to ODU's 2010 schedule as far as SOS? If so, then there's no reasoning with you. :coffee:

I admit, I didn't bother looking at Liberty's schedule when I made that claim. But honestly, you should have stopped with THIS post, and not posted the drivel that followed. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

So, I'll leave you with this: If liberty goes 2-1 Against Ball State, JMU and Stonybrook they MIGHT be in. :coffee: :coffee:

How about this. If Liberty wins the Big South they WILL be in.
BTW... I'd take 2-1 against those three as long as 1 is against SBU. Would also love to beat Ball State and JMU, but neither one are critical in our playoff hunt. 2010=Big South Auto Bid!!!

This argument is funny. I think most of us would be happy going 6-5 and 1-2 vs Cal Poly/W&M/Gardner-Webb. I'd LOVE for ODU to be in the 2010 playoffs, but I'm equally happy if we show further improvement. CAA play is slowly but surely creepin' up on us. In the meantime, enjoy a VERY rare view of Foreman Field:
