Not an exciting home schedule other than SDSU and Nova
three home ooc. Weak.

The only wiggle room, under conference rules and existing contract with our "rival" D-II were the Duquesne and SDSU games. One's a schedule padder and one's a pretty exciting matchup, IMHO.
Of course, I know you try to poo-poo all things Delaware, so no biggie. At least we've been reaching out for years to bring in the Georgia Southerns, Citadels, SDSUs, Furmans, etc, unlike some of the other bigger FCS schools for regular season OOC contests.

The Hens have five games that they SHOULD win, meaning they would only need to go 3 - 3 in the other six games to assure themselves a playoff spot. If Delaware does not make the playoffs next year, people will be screaming for Keeler's head (even more than they are now).

If Keeler can't get eight wins out of that schedule, then (in my best Harry Reid "negro dialect") he gotta go.

SDSU is a good game. But all at home. Play an OOC west of the Mississippi for once.

They make too much $ on home games. If other teams are willing to go to the Tub and play they're going to take it. If they give up a home game to travel to another FCS location they're giving up their home take minus what I assume is a modest payout to the visiting team for a modest payment from the FCS team they visit. It might be good for FCS football but it probably isn't in the best interests of the UD athletic department.
On the other hand, I really admire SDSU's willingness to travel to tough locations and play. They're getting a lot of exposure within FCS and their teams will be battle tested and better for it.

You know better than that. It's about money. UD will make more money playing West Chester and Duquesne at home than they would playing any MVC, Great West, SLC or Big Sky team etc. on the road.
I wish UD was still planning on playing SDSU on the road in 2 years, but I won't fault any school for maximizing revenue.

I'm glad the Hens don't have an FBS on the schedule, now if they would only drop West Chester. I know there is history there, but I'd prefer an all FCS schedule.

Serious question: Other than FBS payoff games, how many OOC's east of the Mississippi has NAU scheduled before?
PS: I'm so glad Delaware doesn't have to whore ourselves out like that.

I don't know, but what does that have to do with Delaware's schedule?

Indeed on the whoring part. Any team that is traveling to play a bunch of games has a shit home atmosphere or in a position like NDSU & SDSU where they may have a good home atmosphere but are looking to really get out there and play anyone to get the brand out there.

NAU played App State in '07.

Isn't it great being the fan of a school that has fans?

Recently, App State.
And good for you - hopefully your cream puffs will prepare you for the CAA

SDSU = creampuff? I guess that must be a typo that they are #11 in the esteemed final CS.com poll.

OK, you traveled to one SoCon for a regular season game. That's a start. Delaware has traveled to The Citadel, Georgia Southern, and Furman in the regular season in the past decade. Going back a bit farther, Delaware traveled to Western KY (as a I-AA) and Youngstown St. It's not like we're particularly afraid to play anyone, if it makes financial sense.

All of those are closer to Newark than NAU's closest game...pffft

So Hen fans - would you trade your West Chester game, which doesn't count, except for money, for a home and home against a good FCS team?

Ummm.......because W&M would be playing 3 games in NE while Delaware only plays 1????

Are you blind or not reading my posts? I just listed three good FCS teams we've played home-and-homes with in the past ten years and one we're starting with this year. I don't think any other team in FCS had as many home and homes with good FCS teams as we did in the past decade.

Big whoop. I'd say a good 75 to 80 percent of FCS schools reside within a 600-700 mile radius from Newark. Not even all of the BSC schools reside within 700 miles of a each other. Hell, there's maybe 10 schools period within a 600-700 mile radius of any school in the BSC.

Let's not change the argument to distance traveled. The original contention was that Delaware's OOC slate was weak (see post #2) even though it includes a very formidable, likely top 25 SDSU team. I made the point that in the past decade, Delaware has scheduled home and homes with several quality programs (two traditional FCS powers in GaSou and Furman, and also The Citadel and now SDSU) for the OOC slate. Delaware hasn't been a program that ducks good OOC teams, even though they could have due to how lucrative it is to never leave the only stadium in FCS to average 20,000 fans/game going on 12 years now (aka The Tub).

I see nothing wrong with the schedule as Delaware is in the same position as Montana, App, & so forth. Montana always gets this kind of shit also so it just comes with the territory. We've had H&H's with SHSU, Maine, Hofstra< Cal Poly< & UC Davis in the last 10 and yet if someone isn't on our schedule we're ducking them.
