Congrats to Rob Damon. After a horrible 1-10 season, it's good to see we had one shining star.

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island junior linebacker Rob Damon has been named Third Team All-America by the Sports Network. Damon becomes the first URI player since Joe Casey (2007) to be selected All-America.
Damon's postseason All-America honor adds to an already impressive postseason list of accolades, which includes CAA Third Team honors and being selected as the team's Most Valuable Player for special teams.

Damon's breakout season at linebacker occurred after he moved from safety where he played in 2008.

This past fall, Damon started every game and led the CAA in tackles, averaging 11.3 tackles per game (124 total tackles). In addition, Damon posted 14.0 tackles for loss, which ranked fifth in the CAA.

The Piscataway, N.J. native also added two sacks, recorded 10-or-more tackles in eight games, including a career-high 19-tackle performance against Connecticut (Sept. 26).
