From an article posted on the EagSports.com website:

For the past two seasons, Modesto QB Greg Panelli (6-3, 230) has been one of the top passers in the California JUCO ranks. He almost left last summer, but when recruiting interest waned he decided to play one more season with the Pirates. On Wednesday, the talented signal-caller got his first offer and next fall he'll be playing ball for FCS-power Eastern Washington...

Evidently he's already enrolled.

Here's some highlight clips with stats:

Nice get. Looks like he'll feel right at home, as his team seems to get about the same # of fans at a game as EWU.

So how many years of eligibility will he have at EWU, only 1, or 2?

If he did JUCO only, he would have 2.

Good luck...hope you have better luck with your California JUCO transfer than UMass did...

Kyle Havens came to UMass last season described as "Rivals position rating of 5.5. viz. "5.7-5.5 All-Region Selection; considered among the region's top prospects and among the top 750 or so prospects in the country; high-to-mid-major prospect; deemed to have pro potential and ability to make an impact on college team "

Yea....right...He was like a deer staring into headlights this year...the game moved faster, and his decision making was too slow...

Maybe we'll get one good year out of him...

It seems like transfers work out about 1/3 of the time. And we will have 4 other QB's in spring camp so there will be much competition for the starting job - which is never bad.

One advantage we have and the reason for at least some of our success with the position is HC Beau Baldwin. He was OC and quarterbacks coach from 2002-2006 including Eric Meyer's Payton Award year. And Beau played QB in college. So if anybody can coach up that position, he can.

The CAA gets a Southern Cal QB, the Big Sky gets a 3 year Juco QB.

The more things change, the more things stay the same.

And Montana got an Oregon QB last year, and NAU got a Missisippi State QB the year before that, and Montana got a WSU QB the year before that...

Herrick was from Ole Miss, but the point remains the same.

Oops, my bad. None the less I'm thinking there will be 4 BSC QB's (including EWU's Juco transfer if he wins the job) that will throw for more yards and more touchdowns than the USC transfer. :coffee:

Perhaps the CAA should re-name the QB position as the "designated rusher" ;)

A transfer QB?

Why not grow your own like UD does?

Wait...

nevermind.

I prefer home grown as well, but we've had two qb's since 2003 so perhaps we're due. :thumb:
