He knows Princeton University football, he knows the Ivy League and over the years he has proven that he knows football.

And it’s those attributes that have led to Bob Surace being named the new head coach of the Tigers.

Surace, a Jersey native and 1990 graduate of Princeton, was announced yesterday as the Tigers head coach by Athletic Director Gary Walters.

Surace comes to the Tigers from the NFL ranks with the Cincinnati Bengals where he has been the offensive line coach for the last nine years. And prior to that, he was the head coach at Western Connecticut State and led the Colonials to NCAA playoffs.

I told my father-in-law and brother-in law (both Princetonians) about the coaching switch. Both took the opportunity to light into archrival Yale. Go figure!
