Too bad for the Montana fans - hopefully you've got someone in the wings to keep this ship pointed in the right direction. :thumb:

Good move for Hauck, IMO.

Montana is great, but $700k a year is nicer.

....and the Vegas housing market is among the worst in the country, so he'll likely have the Taj Hauck very soon.

How does everyone think he'll do there (with the football team, not financially)?

Was Montana successful during his reign due to the excellence of the program (as in, any somewhat decent coach should be able take the position and keep Montana on top without losing a step), or because he was a great coach?

Well we went 39-6 with 2 NC appearances in the three seasons leading up to his regime, so it certainly isn't "due to him", but he certainly kept us on top.

I don't think there is really anyone that could turn UNLV into a top FBS team. The location is not really great to "raise" a team from the ground up.

So many distractions. So little interest in the team by locals. His recruiting style will have to change,. He's actually moving to an FBS school with lower average attendance than the FCS school he came from. Montana has a huge advantage over FCS schools with its stadium and local support.

So..........you're saying both? As long as UM doesn't go after Rob Ash for the job, just about any idiot with an iota of football knowledge could do well there...

When Don Read built the program up the keys have been turned over to three coaches since the Hot Rod was built. Some have done better in the playoffs than others but all have gotten us in there and kept us near the top. It would take a good coach to keep us near the top but a mediocre coach could wreck the car.

I think UM will be motivated to make a very good hire considering the last couple of years and the bad taste in the mouths.

Nice resume.

Seems to have all his boxes checked.

Solid performer.

He'd be a good fit in Griz Maroon. Would enable us to recruit more of those "speed" and brawlers from the east coast we apparently so desperately need.

Yeah. We'll take him. :coffee:

IN YOUR FUCKING NEXT LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I thought we needed someone good with the media that could actually sell this team to the community and put some butts in the seats? Instead we got someone that makes Mike Sanford look like a late night TV host. Epic Fail.

Oh well, you're officially 0-1 on your "where will Hauck be next season" predictions. :coffee:

Yea, and it really pisses me off. Booby was such an easy asshole to hate.................

My guess is Franchione wasn't interested in working for the money offered by UNLV.

I'm sure you're glad he's gone, the kitties might have a glimmer of hope of keeping it close next year...maybe. :kisswink:

As of ten minutes ago, Hauck is still HC at Montana, according to MontanaGrizzlies.com. UNLVRebels.com merely states that the new man will be introduced TOMORROW at a press conference; it did not say who.

There is no doubt. Hauck will be named tomorrow at a press conference.
