We went to the D.II playoffs three times in the 80's and several times to the D.III playoffs in the 70's.

2006-- got creamed in the 1st round by a great UMASS team

2003. Beat #1 McNeese in the opening round 38-0, then lost at home to FIU.

And for history buffs, UMass played in the very first IAA NC game...lost that one too...

2007. Lost in the NC game when ASU eeked out a 49-21 nailbiter.

We beat JMU in an epic comeback on ESPN2, then beat ILSU, before getting annihilated at Appy State.

We may have been out of the playoffs for six years up to that point, but we made yet another run at a National Title, finishing in the final four!

We've been hanging around the playoffs for years but not winning the big one. Kind of like UNI in the MVC.

Nah, it was 2007. Went to Carbondale in the quarterfinals, and then displayed a total lack of defense that would turn out to be a foreshadowing of our hugely disappointing 2008 campaign and waste of Liam Coen's final year.

Last time was 2006. Thumped Furman at home 1st round & lost to eventual NC App. St. @ Boone in the quarterfinal.

It was FAU, not FIU. The Owls were then QBd by the "other" Jared Allen. They then went 9-3 in 2004 in their first transitional FBS year (& beat Hawai'i on the islands).

Aren't the Griz moving up so they can play some "real" opponents?

1983. Made it to the championship game only to get thumped 43-7 by Southern Illinois. Haven't sniffed the playoffs since. Should've got an at large in 1984 at 8-3, but Miss.Valley State got it instead. Had 7-4 and 6-5 seasons from 1992-94 but lates losses in all 3 years to App, Marshall and ETSU canned any playoff hopes. Only 3 winning seasons(1998,2001,2005) since then so nowhere near playoff talk. Hopefully, Wagner changes that.
