Let’s see a smack championship between fans of the two teams (or should I say fans of one team and fan of the other). Don’t waste your time matching wits with the homers & Neanderthals that inhabit a team message board (does Nova have a team message board?), bring you’re shtick here. My guess is pathetic. Montana homers say the same thing over and over again. Its as if art and creativity stopped the second they reached the Mississippi river, much like quality football. I know they'll tout their "class" at the same time they call some one a dip shit for not thinking they will win, and I'm sure they'll bring our fan base into the mix. Come Friday at 11 though, the people of Montana will learn, 23000 people silenced don't make as much noise as 50 celebrating.

I've been thinking about this and have come to the conclusion that, at least in the case of SIU, and I can't prove it but I'll bet that others here have had similar experience that it's just hard to bring your best smack when you've been routinely having your way with a once-feared rival. You may not believe that, but Saluki fans know what I'm sayin'.......... hell, it just seems cruel to smack on the Panters after they were one of the last teams to lose at the Mac and then got stomped at their homecoming in the once-dreaded unidome and now look forward to an Oct. 3rd pimp-slapping at the new Saluki Field...........nope, that would be like smacking some sick, feeble, old wino down on Skid Row.....can't do it to 'em......they were good once........never won the Big One, but they were respected contenders in their day......

What does that make UNI's 6 game win streak over SIU in the 90s?
(would have been 11 in a row if not for the Salukis squeaking out a 1-point win at home in '91)

UNI owns a 15-13 all time head to head advantage over SIU.

Outside of this past season UNI and SIU have alternated wins and losses since 1997. During that period the home team won every game.


SIU won the first 5 games of the series with games ranging from the mid 60's to the late 80's. UNI then won 10 of the next 11, which lead into the alternating of wins until this past year.


I wouldn't really say either team has "dominated" the series the last 14 years, but before that UNI "dominated" the series.
