The Youngstown family must be aweful happy to have home grown Eric Wolford back in town as the new HC. Folks at South Carolina sure were pissed about him leaving. You Penguin fans got you a good one, that's for sure.

His press conference was a home-run. He made a point to say he is going to begin recruiting tomorrow and doing so right here in the heart of recruiting land: YOUNGSTOWN. Then he plans on hitting Akron and Cleveland on Friday. He will be meeting with some of Ted Ginn Sr's stars at Glenville.

Here is his entire press conference for you to watch. Trust me, this will not bore you. You can tell this guy is a top notch hire:

Everyone is excited about this hire at YSU. We lost a LOT of fans in the past few years under Heacock, but I talked with a number of those LOST fans in the past few days and they all plan on coming back down to Stambaugh to check out the Penguins starting in 2010.

After the Penn State opener, we got three straight home games which could set the tone for our season... Butler, C. Conn State, and Southern Illinois.

Word is he will be offering a number of local players today. Youngstown is well known for top quality recruits: Josh Swogger (Montana-Sr Year), Darryl Clark, Brandon Beachum, Mario Manningham, Maurice Clarett, Brad Smith, and many many others.

Let's hope we found a winner that gets another MVFC team back into the playoffs and to pack Stambaugh again!

Did he roll out any sort of magical plan to help them reverse that nine-consecutive-year skein against UNI?

We can only hope! First recruit he met with today he offered a scholarship. The kid's name is Allen Jones from my alma mater of Ursuline HS. He is the all-time leading rusher at Ursuline, same school to produce Montana's Swogger. He started in the last 3 state championship games for the Irish, winning the last 2. He is fabulous.

Per http://www.letsgoguins.com/columns/foot ... youngstown:
According to two of our sources, and the following Illinois news-chat transcript, we have learned that two Illinois assistant coaches recently fired by Ron Zook may be on their way to Youngstown. Here are the two names we are hearing: Kurt Beatherd, the QB coach at Illinois and Jim Pry, the WR coach at Illinois.
