Playoffs

APPST 17-24 UMT
W&M 13-14 NOVA

  • Best Performance: (#1) Montana 24, Appalachian St. 17 - Chase Reynolds runs for 193 yards and 2 TDs on just 23 carries, Jabin Sambrano catches the go-ahead TD with 1:31 to play, and the Griz just manage to avoid Richmond's tragic Armanti-related fate at the end. FS Shann Schillinger had 13 tackles and a pick to lead Montana's D.

Worst Performance: William & Mary 13, (#2) Villanova 14 - The Tribe shut down Nova for most of the game and looked like they would ride a 98-yard TD reception by Cameron Dohse all the way to Chattanooga, but they just couldn't get anything going on offense once the Wildcats woke up. W&M converted 9 of their first 14 third downs, but failed on their last 4 and never saw the ball again following a punt with just under 6 minutes to play.

Most Surprising Result: Montana/Villanova - Surprisingly enough, this title contest between the Griz & Wildcats will be the first "expected" #1 vs. #2 matchup since 1996.

SWAC Title Game

PVAMU 30-24 AAMU (in Birmingham, AL)

  • Best Performance: (#18) Prairie View A&M 30, Alabama A&M 24 - The Panthers win their first SWAC championship in 45 years. K.J. Black threw for 258 yards and 3 TDs to finish the season as FCS's highest rated passer (172.8).

Worst Performance: Alabama A&M 24, (#18) Prairie View A&M 30 - RB Ulysses Banks and QB Deaunte Mason both ran for over 100 yards, but the Bulldogs couldn't overcome Prairie View's passing attack and 13 penalties for 112 yards.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)
