Montana vs CAA

Face it FCS fans, it could be Montana and 3 CAA teams left after this weekend. Time to give credit where credit is due, Montana has been underated by many people all year long. If they do get to Chatty will people still vote them #3, 4 or 5. Last year there were voters putting Montana behind the team they beat in the semi-finals.

The only reason Montana will have made it to the semis is because they haven't had to face a CAA team yet.

And the only reason they haven't played a CAA team yet is because the NCAA greased the playoff skids for them to ease into the semis so the NCAA could pad the coffers with 3 Montana home games.

2004: Montana needed to beat two CAA teams to win the NC. They beat New Hampsire 47-17, but lost to JMU in the title game 31-21.
2008: Montana needed to beat two CAA teams to win the NC. They beat JMU 35-27, but lost to Richmond 24-7 in the title game.
2009: If they get by SFA, Montana will most likely need to beat two CAA teams to win the NC: Richmond (assuming they beat ASU) and then the winner of the Villanova/W&M/UNH triumvirate.
Richmond: Lost to Villanova, beat W&M
Villanova: Beat W&M, beat Richmond, lost to UNH
W&M: Beat UNH, lost to Villanova, lost to Richmond
UNH: Lost to W&M, Beat Villanova
So, EVEN AMONG CAA PLAYOFF TEAMS, the only one who successfully beat TWO of these teams was Villanova.
There's no clear cut choice here....Montana's only hope is that either ASU beats Richmond, or the bottom half of the bracket beats each other up to the point where they're "human" in Chattanooga. Or both.

Consider it done....too bad UM won't benefit from this as they'll have their asses served to them by App St next week inside the cozy confines of that glorified tractor-pull arena you call a stadium complete with the Majestic Plaza Laundromat & Bodega Stand....

Pipe down, boone goon. If you're fortunate enough to get past the Spiders, we'll give you a spanking the likes of which you haven't seen since your cousin's last visit.

The winner of that triumvirate will be SIU.

SIU will have to beat two CAA teams to do it, too. Their odds are about as good as Montanas.
