EIU Tragedy

EIU assistant football coach Jeff Hoover was killed in an automobile accident on the way home from the playoff game at SIU.

Hoover was the OC during Walsh's last years at Portland State. Also coached the offensive line at PSU. When Davis arrived with Glanville, Hoover had to move on and he headed to Eastern Illinois. His name actually was mentioned early on as a possible coaching candidate at PSU after Glanville's firing, but never made any final lists.
