Weber & Eastern Illinois Didn't Belong...

Based on the Game Highlights I've seen and the blowout scores...

Easter Illinois and Weber did not belong in the playoffs this year  both teams looked horrid - in some of the Eastern highlights there is almost no defense visible and Weber puts up a Goose Egg - ZERO...

Smack Discussion: :geek:

Question is, who would you put in their place? EIU was an autoqualifier, and what team would you have put in over Weber?

this 4 loss UNI team is miles better than both of those teams.

No excuses for not getting in. :ohno:

How would you know? Ya'll thought SDSU's "vaunted" defense would stifle the Griz too, and how'd that prediction turn out? And that's the same SDSU team that waxed UNI....

One any game day, there are going to be teams that just fail to show up...

I sat through the entire W&M/Weber game...and Weber could not figure out how to get started...but does that mean they didn't belong...

And I second the question from Azgriz...what other two teams would you have put in...

and imagine what next year will be like with 20 teams in the playoffs...

I realized that after I posted...

I have never seen such a pitiful performance as the Wildcats put on today...

They don't even belong in DII..

Colgate. They would have put up a better fight than Weber. Even FAMU would have done a better job.

Heck, W&M only beat the Hens by 10. Put UD in the Big Sky and they are in the playoffs this year. I respect Montana a lot, but take them out of the Big Sky and you have the Patriot League west - expect the Patriot League rep showed up to play today.

They don't deserve the name Wildcats...the other Wildcat teams won today.

SDSU beat UNI, I can't argue that. (or at least SDSU played a good game, and did enough to make good on it when UNI gave them the game).

But I guess we have different definitions of "waxed"

Liberty would have been a better choice for an at-large than Weber State (or UNI). :coffee:

I am thinking Montana should leave the big sky for the CAA (replace North Eastern) and drop the Big Sky to DII (you know since that's where you western teams get your patsies from)

If they hadn't piddled away their last game, I would have been all for it. (not that my opinion has any real influence.)

OK. Waxed is a strong word. Fair enough. But the comment about their "vaunted" defense still stands.

Hey, if UNI hadn't piddled away THEIR last game, this entire discussion would be moot and we'd be instead discussing how WEBER should have been put in over UNI because WEBER wouldn't have gotten waxed by W&M like UNI did.

Hey butt munch, that's MY line. If you want to turn around and use it on me, fine, but leave AZ out of it. He's gonna buy me a beer, dammit. :coffee:

Weber didn't matchup well w/ WM. Weber doesn't fare well against defenses that punch them in the mouth out of the gate. When that happens, Higgins gets scared and starts throwing the ball to the other team. He did it against Wyoming, he did it against Montana, he did it against Montana State, and he did it against WM. If the defense doesn't get aggressive w/ Weber right away, Higgins will pass all day. But if he's tests vs. a good D that knocks him down, well... you have what happened yesterday. Trevyn Smith was a non-factor as Webs had to start passing early and often.. predictable game.

Precisely: The bracket said "Insert Mediocre Team HERE" and the committee flipped a coin: Heads it's Weber, Tails it's UNI.

The coin came up heads. :coffee:

Of course Eastern Illinois didn't belong, but that was Jacksonville State's fault, not the committee's.
