No doubt the 10-member Division I Football Committee is working hard right now in Indianapolis after a crazy final day of the regular season.
One thing is clear to us out here in the Big Sky: Our conference deserves three playoff teams this year. Montana is the automatic qualifier. Weber State and Eastern Washington both deserve at-large bids.

Having now watched all of them play, I will submit that the top 5 teams are very equal from a standpoint of talent. If you think about it none of these teams really had a bad loss. The difference for Montana is depth, home field advantage, and winning tradition.
Montana State and NAU are both playoff caliber teams that unfortunately will miss out.
This is the strongest I've seen the conference in a decade.

Well said! As I filled out my cs ballot tonight, I agonized over which teams should fill out the bottom half of the top 25. Every time I took a look at a FAMU or a Colgate and tried to imagine them in the top 25, I asked myself how the other team would have fared in MSU's place against Montana today, or in NAU's place versus Eastern Washington. No way in hell that any of the 9-2 or 8-3 teams from the bottom feeder conferences could have survived those contests. This year, I proudly and without reservation rank five Big Sky teams in the top 25.
