Maybe not a head coaching spot, but i have heard that Hofstra canned it's offensive coordinator earlier this week. Thank god!

I'll take him if he can run the offense like when he used to play. That kid was awesome to watch and he was an amazing student as well. To score the way we did yesterday, someone different was up there calling the plays!

You can scratch GSU off your list. Word is the position has been filled. I don't have anything official, but the GSU athletic site keeps crashing so I think the announcement is about to come out.

If so, Baker had the candidate lined up before giving Hatcher the ax

Agreed. Baker said he was planning to axe Hatch a week ago, and he didn;t want the next guy to miss a day of recruiting. It was a done deal.

Sorry for being out of the loop on this, but why was Hatcher let go? What was his record? Any periferal problems?

His record was the reason given. 7-4, 6-5, 5-6. The real reason was he let it slip at a luncheon that the Prez had higher SAT requirements for athletes than for regular students, and Hatcher felt it put him at a disadvantage. A pissing match ensued and you know who won that one.

Well...actually its that Grube set admission standards much higher than the NCAA minimum of 820 on the SAT for student athletes...and yes Hatcher confirming that fact at the Atlanta Touchdown Club luncheon is what got him fired. Grube made it certain to all university employees that mentioning it in public was a fireable offense.

From my understanding, that is the case. My fellow SoCon brethren probably won't like the hire, but I'm sure most of the Eagle Nation will.

The biggest hindrance to GSU and the TO is just down the road, in Atlanta. The guys that GSU used to pull to run that offense are going to also be targeted by Tech. I think that will hurt your recruiting, at least somewhat. Plus, do you have a QB on the current roster that can run it? Chappel ain't the guy.

Is that legal? Both the setting different standards for admission and for someone at a public university to talk about it? I thought public universities had to have full disclosure?

I wish we could add CCU to the list. Bennett is no good. He needs to recruit for both sides of the ball and bring some energy and consistency to the team. Coastal seems him as a godsend, and he'll be around for a while, unfortunately.

When you think about it, its not going to be that difficult at all. How many DI colleges in the south run the TO? Compare that to the number of colleges who run the spread or a more traditional style offense. There is plenty of talent available for both Tech and GSU.
EDIT:
Leander Barney was an option QB in high school. Hatcher moved him to WR, and played tons as a true freshman last year. He even scored a TD against UGA in his first collegiate game. He has speed to burn and would be a nice fit for QB.

Universities are free to set higher than NCAA minimum admission standards. Afterall, look at the Ivies. I don't think you see very many 820 qualifiers playing for the Crimson.
As far as full disclosure? I guess it depends on what type of policy...

Add Bethune-Cookman to the list of vacancies:

I'm going to miss Alvin Wyatt on the sidelines at BCU

It's official - SAM - Todd Whitten is out......about time too
That's 25% of the SLC coaches gone (ok so it's 2/8...still)
And I forget who it is, after reading all this, but Nicholls has run the triple option for a lot of years. Maybe there's a connection that can be made there?

It's a shame, too. Wyatt is a great guy.
