'Nova Star Also A Hero

This is the kind of news I love to post about a football player...
Whether he's on the football field or baseball diamond, Matt Szczur is seen as a game-saver by teammates.
When Villanova needs a timely hit or a clutch touchdown, the two-sport star almost always produces.

Now, the 5-foot-11, 195-pounder will arguably make the biggest contribution of his life.

Szczur, a wideout in football and outfielder/catcher in baseball, is preparing to become a bone-marrow donor. The junior learned three days ago that he was match for a 1-year-old girl who has leukemia. He did not comment; when and where the procedure will take place were not disclosed.

And Congrats to 'Nova Coach Talley who started the program that helped match Szcur with this girl...most CAA teams take part in this worth while effort...

These are the stories everyone needs to hear more! The vast majority of athletes are great human beings like this guy is, people just get inendated with all the bad apples. What a great person he is to do this!

Wow the 3rd oplayer that has been a match. Pretty amazing considering the odds of finding one anywhere are pretty slim. It is an honor to be a part of that program!

Another interesting little tidbit..... now a special teams player (kicker), defensive player (lb), and offensive player (wr) have been matches. It's a coaches turn next. :thumb:

Very cool.

The program is the main reason that I like Coach Talley and Villanova even though I'm not supposed to.
