GPI NCAA Basketball Type Field

OK, I just put together a field using the GPI. Only teams with a .500 record or better were put in. Teams 1-4 in the GPI were seeded #1 and placed in the best possible region with the #1 overall team getting prioity. The same priority was given as best as possible for each subsequent group (5-8, 9-12, 13-16 ect.) It is possible my geographic map in my head failed me once or twice... but overall its a decent bracket. Marist was the unlucky team. There were 69 teams right now .500 or better and Marist has the worst GPI so were left out.

I love that Albany/Delaware matchup!

Montana a 2? Liberty a 5? Four play-in games?
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Montana and Liberty are BOTH #1s in such a scenario, and Montana as the #1 #1 would meet the ONE play-in winner.

its all based on the GPI. I wanted to get as many of the .500 or better teams as i could into it... by doing a play in in each region only 1 .500 or better team was left out.
And why would Montana be the #1, #1?

I think the real question is, why not?

Montana has done nothing to justify being ranked ahead of Villanova or Southern Illinois.

You're right. Being 10-0 doesn't mean shit.

Gotta agree, Montana is without a doubt a seed. But SIU is the #1 seed.

I didnt say it means shit, but 5 of those games Montana could easily have lost, they havent been as impressive as the record suggests.

just imagining Southern going to Montana is good for a laugh.

I remember that year Nicholls went up there, they were beaten as soon as they found out where they were going.
