SoCon: The New Big Sky Conference?

With App winning it's 5th title in a row & 10th in the past 23 years, has the SoCon become a one-trick pony? Will App's conference season morph into an annual creampuff run ala' Montana? How will App fans claim moral superiority over BSC fans? Will App now get to play all their games in Boone? How many Elon players can lay on the field at one time?....and how many minutes of air time does that waster per quarter?

No sh!t....pains me to say, but the BSC would smoke the SoCon this year.....if Elon is the 2nd best team in our conference (undefeated with very lopsided wins....avg conf margin of victory is 33-8), then our conference is REALLY weak this year....

.....sorry, but Elon was soft....they quit two minutes into the Q2....unbelievable how many of their players had to be helped off the field with play stopped...I was embarrassed for them...

Maybe Elon qualifies as one of the "cupcakes" to be set up for the CAA this year?

They should...I'd rather play them again than SC State....

We are doing our part in the bid to change the name of the conference

You probably don't want big or sky in the new conference name. May I suggest hot and air instead?

It's worked well for Suc State all these years.

Without ASU this year, the SoCon is a glorified Big South....

But at least the one noteworthy school in the SoCon has actually won a National Championship recently...

That was my point (just being a little sarcastic about it)

With the occasional competition from Furman (2005) and Wofford (2007, more credit to them for sharing the championship) you guys have owned the SoCon. hell except for last year you have owned FCS.

It appears that way. Sad thing about the Big Sky is that EWU, MSU, NAU and Weber have all had quality teams for the last few years (although not at the same time) but have played themselves out of the playoff by going with the money games. I hope they stick to FCS teams for a couple of years to see what really could happen with the Big Sky teams

The conference was actually prety good in '07 even though only two teams made the playoffs. The other teams beat each other up pretty good that year. But from 06 on it has pretty much been all App. Before that the big 3 but that is certainly a history lesson at the moment.
