(6-3) Harvard squad drag their freshly beaten rear-ends down to play (Gawd awful 4-5) Yale...
Will this thread generate more than one post..?
This game will probably not generate much excitement this year (other than to the faithful)
is it:
or
is it:

I think it's always interesting when two very long time rivals play each other. For example I was watching Williams vs. Amherst today on NESN. To most of the country that game doesn't mean squat but here in New England it still draws a crowd and plenty of interest. I know some folks who aren't even into football but take an interest in that game as well as Harvard vs. Yale because of the long tradition of both rivalries.

Isn't this a FCS football forum?

Those are kind words and a sentiment I completely agree with (right now) because I love this game - for reasons that are difficult to explain...In FCS it's not a meaningful game ever (no playoff implications)
It rarely is meaningful - except maybe once a decade - as far as rankings are concerned...unless you consider who's #25 really important

I do...

That is a very deep, thoughtful analysis.

I do take a little interest because of the enduring rivalry. At this point though that is about the only reason I take interest in it. It's a good enough reason to care though.

Ursus, you da man!
We'll probably be lucky to get 40K-45K fans in the Bowl this year, even in nice weather, with both teams effectively out of the Ivy race. Those Neanderthals from Penn have clinched it, unless they all get stone drunk the night before the Cornell game. Maybe even then.

Although it's unseemly for Harvard grads to bet against each other, I might take Yale plus the points...

I went two years ago to The Game in New Haven. It was a blast, even if Harvard crushed the Eli's. There were supposedly over 100K tailgating that day. It was great to see the Bowl filled..

Yale's senior DB Abare is coming back with his arm in a cast in order to play in The Game. On AGS, bulldog10jw is citing this as a "Willis Reed"-type inspirational move that may put the Elis over the top.
On second thought, Yalies are always "over the top."
