WEEKLY PAYTON/BUCHANAN OUTLOOK

I want to note that I do not list those on the official watch list but only those I would put on the list. This is a tough week to pick a top 5. Matt Nichols is moving up with his recent performances. I think Karim and the winner of the production showdown between AE and Hudgins are the top 2 heading into next week, unless Nichols or Randolph have a 400 plus, 5 TD type passing game, which could then make the top 3 really difficult. Nichols will have a shot to finish in the top 3-4 of the Payton if his team wins out but if not I don't see him finishing in the top 5. Karim also needs to have a strong finish as I would have put him 1st this week had he produced a little more in their win. I felt Hudgins breaking that record was worthy of moving him to 1st but he should not feel safe with AE and Karim likely to rebound from their sub par performances this week.

Not necessarily an ommission as this is your opinion, is it not? But I'll just add food for thought....comparable numbers to some of the ones you have listed here. Doubt he's on many Watch List radars because of Babin, Ferroux and Moses but his numbers are right there IMHO. Don't expect he'll ever get on any awards list but he has done an excellent job in his 4 years. He isn't an AE but, as I said before, we like him. Could be a long time before we have a QB like him again.

QB BRADLEY GEORGE, TEXAS STATE, SR.
PASSING: 214-332, 2,535 yards, 19 TDs, 8 INTs, 64.46%
RUSHING: 30 carries, 26 yards, 0 TD
TOTAL TOUCHDOWNS: 19
PASSING YARDS PER GAME: 8th/281.67
TOTAL OFFENSE PER GAME: 284.56
PASS EFF: 23rd/142.66

(9200 career yards ain't bad when your first 2 yrs your team sucked. Also top SLC passer (8970 yds) - all time - likely until next year anyway)

PS - The boy is not a runner and when he does break one the O line is so concerned we always end up with a holding call (happened last night on a 20 yd gain)

Heres a very indepth look at DE Danny Batten at SDSU. Some of the numbers are fairly impressive. This dude did a hellacious amount of homework. :thumb: :o

You guys arent taking the Walter Payton award seriously are you? The #1 running back in the FCS isnt even on the watch list.

Deji Karim is on the watch list, and really doesn't have a lot of competition for best RB in the FCS. :coffee:

Just trying to help out, it's your gig.

Want to bet a T-shirt that barring injury he'll be a finalist at the end of the year, as the MLB for the FCS's best defense should be?
