Citadel vs Samford

Samford started the game hard. They were up 10-0 by the end of the first. Cadet Starks was more interested in making plays for himself, rather than the team. In the second, the Citadel shows up with a new QB and score 7 in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th, they score 2 touchdowns off interceptions and another on their own. Samford scores in the last 2 minutes of the game but fail at the 2 point conversion.
Citadel wins, 28-17.

Is Blanchard a senior for El Cid? Seems they might have played Starks more earlier given his success.

Starks was not being a team player.
I thought it was great that a black kid was rallying the Big Red flag. I know Citdog was in the press box must've loved it. (though he told me he did enjoy the racial harmony).

Not sure about the Starks not being a team player. He got hurt early in the second half. True Freshman Tommy Edwards (3rd string) came in after that. Edwards played great.
... Citdog wasn't in the press box. Not sure he was even at the game.

Starks got hurt when a player landed on his ankle during a tackle. He wasn't playing badly at that time. Apparently it isn't sprained, just bruised.
We are fortunate that we are so deep at QB.
Our defense played very well. Those first 10 points we spotted Sammy were a gift. They basically started deep in our own territory, but could not convert of a TD on the second one. After that, our defense smothered them.
BTW- Samford has the absolutely best defense our team has seen with the exception of UNC.

Thinking about the game now, I remember starks shrugging off help from the O-line guys on the first couple off possessions. Is that what you were referring to MarkCCU?

I checked our site, but he is a walk-on so he wasn't even part of our recruiting so he doesn't even have a link or pictures set up like the rest of the players.

Glad to know that WCU woke The Citadel up as I really think they can win out though their trip to UTC will be tough.

WCU was definitely a wake up call, but not for the team. It was a wake up call for our coaching staff. You just don't do what we were doing at QB and expect to win. You go with one guy. Period. It is nice to have so many options at QB, but the answer is not to play everybody. Somebody has to sit on the bench. If the starter starts muffing it, then put in the other guy, but don't play two different guys each series. It killed us at Elon, too.
