Prairie View snubbed in CS.com Poll

seriously?
this site is populated with Texas Terror clones or what? PVAMU BELONGS in the top 25.
5-1 with their only loss coming to an FBS team... methinks the voters need to reconsider - just because the SWAC doesn't go to the playoffs doesn't mean their squads are Pioneer League material...
if you left them out - you suck

There are about 8 or 9 teams that could get that 25th spot.
Albany
Central Ct.
Lafayette
Holy Cross
Colgate
Liberty
Montana State
FAMU
Maybe some others as well.
PVA&M not being in the Top 25 isn't wrong. They haven't done anything to distinquish themselves from those other teams.
See, it didn't even take me 10 posts.

Prairie View was my #24 team.

Albany - in top 25 (23 or 24)
Central Ct. - 26th
Lafayette - no no no
Holy Cross - in top 25 (23 or 24)
Colgate - no, they were exposed as TOTAL frauds by HC last week
Liberty - in top 25 (22nd)
Montana State - no, just because they're a mediocre team in a power conference does not entitle them to a 25th place pity vote
FAMU - 27th

Why? Prairie View is 54th in this week's Massey power ratings. The Panthers have not beat any of the 53 teams ranked ahead of them.

I disagree with you on Lafayette. They've got the best resume to date in the PL. I had them at 25 and Holy Cross not in the poll.
Montana state isn't a pitty vote really, but I get your point.
But other than that your post proves my point. You can see how some might view these teams differently and thus, the 25th spot is up for grabs really.
The thing that is striking to me is what appears to be the HUGE gap in quality after EWU at 22.

PV playing only nine games hurts as well.

I left them out and had absolutely no problem doing so. Did you watch that anemic game against Southern?

EXACTLY. I've watched PV a few times in the last two seasons and I don't see it.
Just for a little fun I went and ran the simulation on 25 games between Albany and PV.
PV (at home) wins 16 of 25 by a 3 pt. margin.
Albany (at home) wins 20 by an avg. 9 pt. margin.
They missed the top 25 but they are close in our poll. A lot closer than the 53 ranking that Sagarin has them at anyway so they are on people's radar.

You are exactly right, Danefan! The bottom 10% of the top 25 is completely up for grabs. There are at least nine teams - maybe more - which could be placed at the bottom of the top 25, but a rock solid case to place any of those teams either in or out of slots 23-25 cannot be made.

Every week I listen to people who say Prairie View should be in, every week I tell myself that I will see how they do and take a serious look at them, every week I am not impressed. This cycle keeps repeating itself over and over.

Exactly how I feel about Jacksonville State, Liberty, Florida A&M, Morgan State, Central Connecticut State, Colgate, Lafayette, and Butler.

Who's been telling you to put Morgan State in?

I actually have CCSU, Lafayette, Holy Cross, Albany, and Liberty rounding out my poll. Not in that order, but I think they are more deserving than a lot of teams, including PVA&M. PV needs to win a few more before they move into the top 25. I know the NEC, PL and Big South are not power conferences by any stretch, but all of those teams play decent or good in conference and ooc games. So they get the nod.

Prairie View is a good team, but like others have said. That nine game schedule hurts them a lot.

It's actually the 9 teams on the schedule, not the 9 games itself.

well if they were able to (coughhonoracontractcough) play those two extra games...they would have a better argument

....just another example of a 5-2 team in a mediocre conference. That's all.
