BLACK SATURDAY - Georgia Southern @ Appalachian State

This is one of those games you throw out records and rankings. This is pure southern hatred where every hit is a big hit and every score is a big score. Two fanbases that can't stand one another and argue about which one is more backwards. 9 National Championships and 17 SoCon Championships between the two (9 for App, 8 for GaSo).

App looks to extend their SoCon winning streak to 16 games, which would eclipse the old record of 15 games held by PJ's GaSo team from 1997 to 1999. Ironically enough, that streak was started after GaSo's loss in Boone in 1997 and ended in Boone in 1999.

This win would mean App's SoCon streak would be at over two years. Of course, the last SoCon loss for App was Georgia Southern on Black Saturday, which ended App's 30-game home winning streak.

A loss for GaSo would cripple their playoff hopes and a loss for App would mean they would have to win out to make the playoff (@ Furman, @ Elon)

App holds the edge in the all-time series 12-11-2. But GaSo fans like to remind us that it's been 9-9 since their program was revived. The last three years have come down to the last play and there's no reason to believe it won't happen this year.

Kickoff is 3:00 pm EST and it's on SportSouth.

Two teams trying to fight for a playoff berth (if they can catch Elon)

9 NC, 10 teeth in the crowd ;)

The latest edition of the rivalry takes place Saturday, as the last three meetings have been won by the road team by a combined 11 points. ASU leads the all-time series 12-11-1 (dating back to 1932), but in the modern era (1982-present) the series stands tied at 9-all.

For clarification, we're Hillbillies, they're Rednecks.

The highlight so far for GaSo's is their 67-yard punt after their second 3 and out.

Add a defensive 6 to the list.

Shit. Backup TE fumbles after a completion and GaSo picks it up and runs it in.

7-7, 5:04 - 1st.

Well forget about punters or defensive sixes. Armanti to CoCo for a 53-yard TD!

14-7 App, 3:35 left in the 1st.

Armanti is already 10-12 for 167 yards and 2 TD's and 21 yards rushing.

I don't get SportSouth.

And there's no video streams online and since I'm on an older computer, I can't download Microsoft Silverlight to listen to the game.

So I'm GameCasting it.

Can't wait until my next paycheck so I can start shopping for a MacBook. :thumb:

Armanti just passed the 8,000 passing and 4,000 rushing mark. One of only two QB's to ever do so.

21-7 App now. 14:08 left in the 2nd. Score doesn't even reflect how one-sided this has been so far.

First play for GaSo is a fumble and App recovers. This is turning into 2004 payback.

GaSo gets a somewhat respectable drive together but eventually punts. Good punt, down to the App 1. The punter is GaSo's MVP so far.

GaSo puts a good drive together, but it stopped in the endzone and settles for a FG.

28-10 App, 3:46 left in the 2nd.
