Bison stop the run and make JSU a one dimensional passing team. Still a close game, Bison 23, JSU 17.

Not sure how you get to 23 with that kicker of yours.Gil Dobie wrote:Bison stop the run and make JSU a one dimensional passing team. Still a close game, Bison 23, JSU 17.

Re: 2015 National Championship - NDSU vs Jacksonville St
I must admit that last game by Jacksonville State gives me pause. But I'm going to hope North Dakota State wins because Jacksonville State is now another transfer whore program. I want to see the program that does things the noble way in that it recruits high school players, is loyal to them, and develops them instead of going out every year and kicking its high school recruits to the curb as it brings in all the transfers it can get.
And I'm hopeful. Yes, Jacksonville State really kicked the crap out of Sam Houston State. But Sam Houston State was weak on defense. Especially against the run. I am hopeful that Jacksonville State is going to find that it's difficult to run the ball against North Dakota State.

How many transfers does one have to have to be a transfer whore program? And is it limited to I-A transfer or do JUCOs count as well?JohnStOnge wrote:I must admit that last game by Jacksonville State gives me pause. And how many of those transfers are starters? A transfer who isn't starting hasn't really kicked anyone to the curb.BDKJMU wrote:# of I-A transfer I count listed on the semi final teams:

Re: 2015 National Championship - NDSU vs Jacksonville St
As far as I can tell 9 of Sam Houston State's starters against Jacksonville State were FBS transfers including 7 of 11 offensive starters. I say that because their two deep for that game on their game notes shows 8 starters total and 6 of 11 on offense but it shows Johnson as the starter at quarterback and Briscoe started. And how many of those transfers are starters?
And, obviously, it's the offensive side of the ball that's the stronger side for Sam Houston State. As of now they're still ranked #1 in FCS total offense and 83rd in total defense. They weren't in the playoffs because of their defense.
If the numbers y'all put up are correct Jacksonville State's not as much a transfer whore program as I thought it was.

Re: 2015 National Championship - NDSU vs Jacksonville St
I think you'd all agree that if you removed all FBS transfers from the four teams North Dakota State would be just about as good. Losing that one starting running back would hurt some but they've got other good backs. They'd have a good chance of still being in the championship game without him.BDKJMU wrote:# of I-A transfer I count listed on the semi final teams:

But Sam Houston State almost certainly would not have been in the semifinals and may not have even made the playoffs without FBS transfers. Those are the two extremes among the four.

That said, NDSU wins every year until proven otherwise. Sad, but true.

Looking at their roster, I count ELEVEN OL for NDSU 6'3"-6'7", 300-326 lbs. That's a lot of big boys...

I didn't know what "stolid" meant until after I saw it in that post and looked it up. But now that I know what it means I can say I like stolid. I like teams like that.Ivytalk wrote:Rooting for Jax State. NoDaks too stolid for me.

Jack St preparing for 2 QB's
Redshirt freshman Easton Stick has started the last eight games for the Bison, filling in for standout senior Carson Wentz, who is sidelined following surgery on a fractured right (throwing) wrist. North Dakota State coach Chris Klieman said he wasn't yet sure which one would start Saturday.
"We're excited where Easton's at right now, and being a redshirt freshman, where the future is for that position," Klieman said. "As far as Carson is concerned, we'll all find out on Saturday whether he'll play or not. He's not been cleared yet and we'll continue to progress."
Stick (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) has been a dual-threat for the Bison, completing 62.1 percent of his passes (90-for-145) for 1,144 yards with 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 10 games (eight starts). He has added five touchdowns and 498 yards rushing, totals that rank second on the team.
Wentz (6-6, 235) is much more of a traditional pocket passer, completing 63.7 percent of his passes (114-for-179) for 1,464 yards and 16 touchdowns with just two interceptions in seven games (six starts). The fifth-year senior is regarded as a potential first-round draft pick in the 2016 NFL draft and has accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Re: 2015 National Championship - NDSU vs Jacksonville St
Why do people lie like that? I mean really. There's no way you're going to go in there against a program that has only lost one FCS playoff game in its history and hasn't lost one since 2010 in a game that's for the national championship and treat it like any other game. That's ridiculous. Why even say that?Chris Landrum said. “We’re gonna go in there and treat it like any other game.”
